Center Alonzo Mourning offered yet another strong signal Monday that he will attempt to end his career in a Heat uniform rather than on the injured list. Six months after sustaining a serious season ending knee injury in a loss in Atlanta, Mourning mentioned he is continuing to push for a return to the 2008/2009 Heat roster.

For months, Alonzo Mourning said that this season could be his last in the NBA. Unless, of course, it is not. Mourning, whose season finished when he suffered severe knee and leg injuries in a game last December, mentioned Monday that if his body gets healthy, he would like to come back and play one more season before in the end calling it a career.

Heat center Alonzo Mourning mentioned Monday that he is more focused on his recovery from knee surgery than the thought of retiring anytime soon. In his 1st public comments since his December 20 knee surgery, Mourning mentioned the 1st month of his recovery is going well, however added that the healing process has left him restless.

Heat center Alonzo Mourning left Wednesday's game against the Atlanta Hawks in the 1st quarter with a torn patella tendon in his right knee. Such an injury normally requires surgery followed by a recuperative period of up to 6 months.

Alonzo Mourning refused to leave what might were the last game of his career on a stretcher. After tearing the patellar tendon in his right knee in Miami's game against Atlanta Wednesday, the 37 year old Heat center was placed on the stretcher, however he refused the ride.

Tayshaun Prince scored 13 points and Chauncey Billups added 12 to help the Pistons beat the undermanned Heat 103-86 in the exhibition opener Monday night. The Heat were missing Shaquille O'Neal, Dwyane Wade and Alonzo Mourning, who all stayed in Florida to deal with injuries.

Alonzo Mourning is coming back, one more time. Ending nearly 3 months of suspense about his future, the Heat center mentioned Sunday night at his annual Zo's Summer Groove charity game that he will play again next season, a choice he kept secret to the end, insisting he was still deciding only hours before the actual announcement.
