5 hours after more than 2,000 draft-party participants cheered the arrival of new Timberwolf O.J. Mayo, their NBA hometown team made a midnight deal that reshaped its roster. The Wolves dealt Mayo's draft rights along with Marko Jaric, Antoine Walker, Greg Buckner and their contracts to Memphis for the rights to Kevin Love, swingman shooter Mike Miller, forward Brian Cardinal and center Jason Collins.

The Timberwolves are 5 games away from wrapping up their season, however they put a bow on Antoine Walker's 1st season with the team a long time ago. Walker has not appeared in the past 25 games and has not traveled with the team for road games since late February.

Antoine Walker was suspended by coach Pat Riley last year for exceeding a team-mandated body fat limit. That kind of hard-nosed approach, which in the past also manifested itself in unusually exhausting practices, might be why NBA players questioned recently by mentioned Riley was the coach for whom they would least like to play. He was No.1 in a runaway.

Antoine Walker continues to attempt to work out a buyout with the Wolves, however center Michael Doleac, who came to the Wolves in the same trade with Miami, would like to finish the season here and has not decided whether he will play after this year.

Reserve forward Antoine Walker did not make the trip to Toronto for Wednesday night's game due to a problem with his passport, Timberwolves coach Randy Wittman said. It is the latest twist in Walker's issues.

The Timberwolves were begging to see the Antoine Walker Shoulder Shimmy all season. With only 3 wins in their 1st 24 games, Walker never really had a chance to allow it loose. He in the end unveiled his trademark juke in the 2nd quarter against Indiana Friday, and it spurred the young Wolves to an improbable comeback win.

Antoine Walker is not about to claim he is in a better place, not when he returned Monday to AmericanAirlines with the 3-19 Timberwolves. However, from a personal standpoint, the former Heat forward mentioned he was glad to be away from the constant scrutiny by coach Pat Riley concerning his conditioning during his 2 seasons in South Florida.
