So, are the Clippers going to leave Baron Davis in Northern California and pick up Corey Maggette and Jamal Crawford at Golden State on the way home from Sacramento? Warriors swingman Stephen Jackson spent some quality time with Davis, his buddy and former teammate, over the weekend in Los Angeles, bonding and talking about old times. Jackson said that Davis wants to return to the Warriors.

In the 1st meeting between Baron Davis and Corey Maggette since they switched teams as free agents in the summer, an undrafted rookie named Anthony Morrow stole the show. Morrow had 37 points and 11 rebounds in his 1st NBA start, leading the Golden State Warriors to a 121-103 win over the L.A Clippers on Saturday.

For the 2nd straight season, Baron Davis' team lost its 1st 6 games before getting that elusive 1st win. Last season, Davis was with the Golden State Warriors. Now he's with the L.A Clippers, whom the Warriors beat a year ago to end their drought.

The message landed in Clippers Coach Mike Dunleavy's e-mail in-box Monday afternoon. Good news. There may have been more from a certain point guard named Baron Davis, but that was the essential information of the day. Davis will not need surgery for his torn finger ligament and could resume basketball activities in about a week, the team said.

An NBA source informed The Sunday that the Clippers are fearful that newcomer star guard Baron Davis could miss as many as 4-6 weeks due to a sprained ring finger on his left hand that could require surgery. The 2 time All Star is expected to learn how long he will be out and whether he requires surgery during a doctor evaluation Monday.

Baron Davis found out Monday his injured finger does not need surgery, and the Clippers guard might be ready to play in the season opener. Davis has a partial tear of the ulnar collateral ligament in his left ring finger, but is expected to resume basketball activities in a week. The Clippers open their season against the LA Lakers in October.

The Clippers re-signed unrestricted free agent center Paul Davis Monday, giving L.A 3 players named Davis on their 15 man roster. He joins Baron Davis and Ricky Davis, another pair of free agent additions.

"I did think that Elton [Brand] was going to come and I talked to him and tried to say, 'This is the best place for you, we can do good things,' however obviously, he chose otherwise", Davis said.
