The Celtics were looking for a replacement for James Posey. They might have found that player in Darius Miles. By waiving Miles, the Blazers had taken the remaining 2 years and $18 million on his contract off their salary cap.

The Boston Celtics signed forward Darius Miles, who missed the last 2 NBA seasons due to knee injuries. Celtics GM Danny Ainge mentioned Friday that Miles worked out twice for the team before signing. Miles played for Portland in the 2005-2006 season.

The Celtics sign 2nd round draft pick Bill Walker. Celtics GM Danny Ainge praised Walker's "hard work and skill development" over the summer in announcing the signing Friday. Boston acquired the rights to the 6 foot 6 forward out of Kansas State for cash after he was chosen with the 47th pick by Washington in this year's NBA draft.

LeBron James and the Cavaliers will start next season at the same place they finished last season, TD Banknorth Garden. The Celtics, who knocked off the Cavaliers in a 2nd round playoff series by defeating them in a deciding Game 7 in Boston, will host the Cavaliers in the NBA season opener October 28th.

Paul Pierce mentioned it. He meant it. And he still means it. The Boston Celtics small forward/guard recently was asked by a Spanish publication whether he thought Kobe Bryant was the best player in the world. Pierce mentioned no. The NBA Finals MVP called himself the "best player".

Tyronn Lue was very interested in playing for the Celtics however mentioned they offered a little less than half than what Milwaukee did. "I am disappointed, man", Lue mentioned about the Celtics. "We were hoping to get it done for so long".

Posey, a 6 foot 8 forward who last season helped the Boston Celtics triumph their 1st title since 1986, agreed Wednesday to a 4 year, $25 million contract with New Orleans, agent Mark Bartelstein said.
