Charlie Villanueva thought any win the Milwaukee Bucks could get without Andrew Bogut would be big. This one was Villanueva's first. Michael Redd scored a season-high 35 points and Villanueva added 13 of his 25 in the fourth quarter on Monday night, leading Milwaukee to its first victory without Bogut in 21 months, 107-97 over the Toronto Raptors.

Charlie Villanueva is excited about the Bucks' upcoming season, and he has good reason for it. Villanueva will be given every chance to grab the team's starting power forward position, now that Yi Jianlian has moved on to join the New Jersey Nets.

Now, instead of having to wait for Yi Jianlian to mature and hope that Bobby Simmons stays off injured reserve for 3 consecutive games, new coach Scott Skiles has Richard Jefferson's versatility at both ends to enhance Michael Redd, Andrew Bogut, Mo Williams and Charlie Villanueva.

Bucks forward Charlie Villanueva was aching for a chance to play meaningful minutes. However, he's not happy the chance would come due to an injury to starting power forward Yi Jianlian, Villanueva's frustration has grown in recent weeks, and he felt compelled to address trade rumors on the blog he writes for NBA.com, with the league trade deadline approaching February 21st.

"It could be unfair to Yi, unfair to Charlie Villanueva, unfair to a lot of people because nothing is being handed to anyone coming into training camp", Krystkowiak mentioned during the Bucks' annual media day.

The Bucks picked up the final option years on the contracts of center Andrew Bogut and forward Charlie Villanueva on Thursday. Bogut, the No.1 overall pick in the 2005 draft, and Villanueva, the 7th pick that year, are now signed through the 2008/2009 season.
