The Houston Rockets bought 4 tractor-trailers full of food, water and toiletries for victims of Hurricane Ike and players unloaded them at a distribution center Thursday. The 4 trucks carried 80,000 pounds of supplies, mentioned team spokeswoman Tracey Hughes. Forwards Mike Harris and Chuck Hayes and guards Rafer Alston, Aaron Brooks and Luther Head carried boxes of food and orange juice.

Houston Rockets forward Chuck Hayes had surgery Thursday to repair a broken nose. The 6 foot 6 Hayes, Houston's 3rd leading rebounder last season at 5.4 per game, was hurt during a morning workout.

Chuck Hayes and the Houston Rockets have reached agreement on a 4 year contract to keep the forward in Houston, Hayes' agent mentioned Tuesday. "I feel good about getting it done, and I am glad Chuck has some security", agent Calvin Andrews said.
