The New Orleans Hornets turned to a familiar face to fill an opening in the backcourt, signing Devin Brown Friday. Brown, formerly of the Cavaliers, played with New Orleans 2 seasons ago and was brought back to increase the depth in the backcourt depth. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Forward Donyell Marshall will not be making the transfer to Oklahoma City with the SuperSonics. The 14 year NBA veteran was waived Wednesday by the Oklahoma City franchise, which still has not been renamed after its relocation last month. Marshall was acquired by the franchise from Cleveland in a 3 team trade in February that sent Wally Szczerbiak and Ben Wallace to the Cavaliers.

Mo Williams has not been a Cavalier for long, however he already knows his role, Take some load off LeBron James and help Cleveland triumph a championship. Just after James led the U.S. to a spot in the medal round at the Olympics in Beijing, Williams informed reporters on a teleconference Thursday that he can help the Cavaliers superstar.

A source mentioned free agent guard Flip Murray was approached by Dynamo Moscow. The former Cavaliers guard had drawn some interest from Cleveland, however that was before the Cavaliers signed Tarence Kinsey.

It is been a relatively uneventful summer for the Cavaliers. All that would change if a 3 team trade rumor has any substance to it. A league source mentioned the Cavaliers might be pursuing Bucks point guard Mo Williams. All the details are not known, however the Cavs, Bucks and Oklahoma City (formerly Seattle) are supposedly involved.

LeBron James and the Cavaliers will start next season at the same place they finished last season, TD Banknorth Garden. The Celtics, who knocked off the Cavaliers in a 2nd round playoff series by defeating them in a deciding Game 7 in Boston, will host the Cavaliers in the NBA season opener October 28th.

Not surprisingly, LeBron James was happy to fan rumors that he could be open to fielding offers from European teams when his contract with the Cavaliers expires in 2010. For the N.B.A. megastar, what better place is there to attract foreign investors into the eventual bidding war than the Summer Olympic Games? "Growing up, you never think about any other league besides the N.B.A".

The Boston Celtics start defense of their NBA title on opening night against LeBron James and the Cavaliers, and will face the LA Lakers in a finals rematch on Christmas Day. The Celtics will host the Cavaliers, who they beat in 7 games in last season's Eastern Conference semifinals, in October.

LeBron Raymone James, the 6-8 "small" forward for the Cavaliers, has endorsed Barack Obama for president. If by endorsing, you mean donating $20G's to a committee devoted to electing the freshman Illinois Democratic senator as president on November 4th.
