Good but Whiteside and Clarkson will get more.

What I personally find funny is that Lakers fans are all positive they will be getting either 1 or 2. I believe Lakers0795 has been touting, "The tank is worth is as we will be getting Simmons or Ingram and it's totally worth it! "

Here's the issue. If the lottery happened today, there is over a 60% chance the Lakers don't get the #1 or #2 pick. Infact, there is about a 45% chance, they end up with 4 or 5.

I'd love to see a post that assumes the more likely, that they don't get 1 or 2.and see how things go based on them not getting ingram or simmons. Because every post about the lakers is just positive they get one of those two. Even though the odds are. they wont.

Not a real fan if you think that way ;)
They are not prepared, positioned or patient enough for slow, quality rebuild, they are dreaming of various shortcuts in their second year; not getting that rushing would only limit teams ceiling.

@knicksalltheway First of all why tf are you mentioning me? But now that I'm here, let me break it down for you.

Like the Knicks, we have played like rubbish all year, like the Knicks we are going to miss the playoffs again, BUT unlike the Knicks we actually have a 40% chance to get a top 3 pick as you kindly stated.

So if we get the #3 pick we can draft Bender or Brown, not as good as Ingram or Simmons but still a valuable asset/ prospect

Now if we lose the pick, we will still have 3 young, talented players to build around in Russell, Randle, and Clarkson while also having over $60 million in cap space this offseason (most in the NBA)

Now what I find "personally funny" is all the rubbish you have been talking when your team is as rubbish as ours.

Currently you have 26 million on the books, and you are going, oh we have the young and talented clarkson. So given that you are assuming clarkson is resigning, and mistakenly, will be resigned for my guess.12-15 million, that p[uits you at around 40 million guarenteed. So now, you are down to about 50million in cap.

Thats the first part.

The second, and far more interesting part, is that you have a solid core to build around? That core has gotten you the worst stretch in lakers history. That core has gotten you zero interest and a 3rd best team in California. That core is a a set of decent but thus far not insanely amazing guards and a pf that is just absolutely horrific on defense and inefficient on offense. And you think adding a player like bender will fix things. by now having what, 4 starters with a combined amount of experience being 3 years and 1 game?

The other issue is this. you can say what you want about the knicks. their 1st turned out to be a MAJOR building block. And after this year, they have alllll their picks. The lakers, will undoubtedly, even with bender. be TERRIBLE next year. That pick. given up. 2 years from now? that pick. given up. At which point they start losing their rookie contracts and thus have to sacrifice massive amounts of cap space to utter gambles like clarkson.

I think clarkson is decent, but heres the thing. he's been on one of the bottom teams his whole career. AKA, inflated stats. I don't know if he's a starter on any other team, but the lakers are infatuated with him and thus they will significantly over pay.

Just a terrible situation and NOT the unbelievably talented prospects you make it seem like. I brought you into the convo because all your lakers posts are about how the talent of your 3 prospects is BEYOND anything this worlds ever seen. I mean, Randle, is legit, guarenteed hall of famer. Yes he shoots about 41% and doesn't know how to spell defense, but like youve said, he gets 10 boards. I mean, only players as elite as kris humphries and david lee can perform like that! Then, simmons. well, simmons and ingram. one is coming to the lakers and now, instant champs. You have posted nothing but proclamations about the amazing lakers talent and the guarentee of a dynasty with the guarentee of simmons and ingram.

Prob should expect 1 of the 3 prospects on the team to develop into something more than average (my guess russell) and you should probably understand the odds are against the lakers to get 1/ 2.and heres the thing. the odds are pretty even you get a 4/ 5, which goes to the sixers, and thus you get. nothing.

The Lakers have the 2nd best odds at #1 pick as of right now, and have a 56% chance of getting a top 3.

They very well could drop out of the top 3, but that's not the more likely scenario. 56% top 3 doesn't mean it's a coin flip necessarily. If there were only 6 or 7 teams vying for a top 3 pick, then yea it's basically a coin flip they end up with a top 3 pick. But they have a 56% chance which means 11 other teams collectively have a 44% chance. The more likely scenario is the Lakers get a top 3 pick if the lottery happened right now.

It's very close nld to a coin flip. But that's for losing the pick. What I was more speaking about was that the assumption is they get 1 or 2 and plans are based on that. There is over 61% they get 3,4,5. So probably best to plan not basing the entire future off Simmons or Ingram. That's all.

@ Knicksaltheway

It's not close to a coin flip. If Lakers have a 56% chance at getting a top 3 pick, that means 11 other teams all have a 44% chance meaning each team has an average of a 4% chance of a top 3 pick. I know it's not split evenly between all 11 teams, but to help illustrate my point. 11 teams have a 4% chance and the Lakers have a 56% chance. Which is more likely to happen? A team with a 4% chance or with a 56% chance?
