OKC/MEM

OKC get Crowder
- cut a little bit of tax while getting a player who could be another trade asset at the deadline

MEM get Roberson & one of the many 1st round picks
- whichever pick they deserve should be added

i can't see them trading a first, maybe a second.

Swap the 1st for the 2020 Chicago 2nd, and OKC says yes. Duck the luxury, plus I like Crowder more than Dre at this point. Nice fit in okc.

Of course OKC says yes. That Chicago 2020 only conveys if Chicago is a top 5 team this year. Its valueless. You might as well just say Roberson Crowder straight up which would save OKC nearly $10 mil in salary + luxury tax. But would be dumb for Memphis to accept considering they have all the leverage. That Denver 2020 pick seems about right.

OKC may be the worse team in the West AND still pay $11 mil in luxury taxes. Nice management there!

Well, they expected to be competitive until a few days ago, so being in luxury tax for a year as they tank isn't a horrible thing. I wouldn't give up a first just to duck the luxury tax, especially since they have all year to get under it. Maybe as a trade deadline move, but definitely not before the season starts.

They're only 3.8 million over the tax, they could swap Gallo for a smaller expiring deal to get under. Something like Gallo and Ferguson for Bazemore and Trent (a 4.2 million cut in that deal) .

Spotrac says $4.7 over cap. Think you may be missing some dead money on OKC books.

Yeah, I was looking at the trade machine, you’re right. Could probably make it work still. They both have some small contracts that could be swapped in and out.
