Would either team be interested in a Marcus Smart for Jusuf Nurkic swap? Maybe add some smaller players and picks if needed (Maybe Robert Williams for Trent and 2020 1st)

Blazers could use a backcourt lockdown defender

Celtics could use a starting center when Nurkic is healthy

Lillard/Simons
McCollum/Smart
Bazemore/Hood
Collins/Little
Whiteside/R.Williams

Walker/Edwards
Brown/Trent
Tatum/Langford
Hayward/G.Williams
Nurkic/Kanter

Portland certainly wouldn’t be interested. Nurkic is considerably better, and Smart just wouldn’t get many minutes with Lillard, McCollum, Bazemore, Hood, and Simons in Portland.

Whiteside wasn’t brought to Portland be to the long term solution. He’s the bandaid and then a big expiring deal at the trade deadline.

Celtics twinkie defense. You undervalue defense. Celtics won't make playoffs.

Smart would be the first guard off the bench.

Maybe Celtics say no for now. Remember that Nurkic’ injury is like Hayward’s. Only difference is Nurkic has a smaller contract but we don't know how he plays when he comes back.

Smart is in the same general class as Hood and Bazemore. Smart might be the first off the bench, but that’s not worth a center as good as Nurkic on a really cheap contract. There were questions in Portland if Nurkic had become Portland’s second best player. He was playing that good before the injury.
