Life without Gilbert Arenas is not getting any easier for the Wizards, who dropped their 2nd straight European exhibition game to the New Orleans Hornets 102-80 in Barcelona Friday. Melvin Ely had 19 points and 8 rebounds and Chris Paul added 10 points and 8 assists to help the Hornets wrap up the NBA's annual preseason tour of Europe with another strong performance.

Gilbert Arenas and the Wizards were fined $15,000 apiece by the NBA Friday after he ducked out of the team's annual preseason media day, avoiding any discussion of his 3rd left knee operation in 11/2 years.

One day after having minor arthroscopic surgery to clean out debris in his surgically repaired left knee, Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas posted a 2,210-word blog entry yesterday in which he mentioned he will probably return from the procedure between mid-December and early January, several weeks later than the early December return he originally set Wednesday morning.

Gilbert Arenas had a 3rd operation on his left knee Wednesday morning, putting the Wizards in full spin position as they face another season of uncertainty concerning their franchise player. "I do not know if it is a setback", team president Ernie Grunfeld said. Grunfeld might be the only person who can said that with a straight face.

For the 2nd straight year, the Wizards will enter a season unsure about the health of 3 time all star guard Gilbert Arenas. Arenas, who signed a 6 year, $111 million contract in July, underwent arthroscopic surgery on his left knee yesterday morning and mentioned he expects to miss training camp, the preseason and at least the 1st month of the regular season.

The Wizards' Gilbert Arenas blogs for NBA.com. He recently wrote about new Rocket Ron Artest, among others. Here's a portion of the blog, He forced the trade. He would like out of there and they delivered. I think it is a good trade for Houston. Someone must control him in the locker room, however other than that, he plays hard and he plays to win, so I think that was a good transfer to pick him up.

Gilbert Arenas got the money. Now he would like the ring. Arenas, who signed a franchise-record 6 year, $111 million contract with Washington 9 days ago, met the media for the 1st time Tuesday and mentioned he will be more focused and do anything needed to help the Wizards triumph an NBA title. Arenas is a 3 time All Star who is averaged 22.

Wizards player Gilbert Arenas listed his best 5 players in the NBA to the Manila Bulletin on a visit to the Philippines recently. "Chauncey Billups (Pistons) at point guard, Kevin Garnett (Boston Celtics) at small forward, Tim Duncan (San Antonio Spurs) and Dwight Howard (Orlando Magic) at center".

Gilbert Arenas is accepting less money from the Wizards, invoking an attitude far, far removed from the world of his working class fans. "What can I do for my family with $127 million that I cannot do with $111 million?" he informed The Washington Post.

The Wizards yesterday offered unrestricted free agent guard Gilbert Arenas a 6 year contract that would pay him between $125 million and $127 million, the maximum amount allowed under the NBA's collective bargaining agreement, multiple sources said.
