Gordan Giricek maybe on the verge of becoming a former 76er. According to a source familiar with the situation, the Sixers plan to accommodate the Croatian swing man's request to be bought out of the remainder of his contract.

Shortly before tip off of the 76ers' 98-90 triumph against the SuperSonics Monday, Sixers president and GM Ed Stefanski felt compelled to talk about a popular subject, trade rumors concerning Andre Miller. Since Stefanski dealt Kyle Korver on Saturday to the Jazz for Gordan Giricek and a future 1st round pick, his phone was ringing.

Jazz guard Gordan Giricek was not backing down from the shouting match, coach Jerry Sloan was pointing toward the exit and assistant coach Tyrone Corbin was trying to step in between the two. That was the scene during a timeout with 7:50 left in the 2nd quarter, when Giricek and Sloan had it out.

Thanks to a phone call from Croatian countryman Zoran Planinic, a story in the El Correo newspaper and the reached of the Internet, Jazz guard Gordan Giricek spent part of Thursday on his way to play for Tau Ceramica in Spain this season. Not about to happen, as stated by Kevin O'Connor, the Jazz's senior vice president of basketball operations, as well as Marc Fleisher, Giricek's agent.
