The Suns traded guard D.J. Strawberry to the Houston Rockets Monday for rookie guard Sean Singletary. "Sean gives us depth at the point guard spot", Suns GM Steve Kerr said. "We like his instincts and his ability to run a team. He also puts a lot of load on the ball.

Ron Artest officially joined the Houston Rockets Thursday. The Rockets said the 5 player trade with Sacramento that also brought forward Patrick Ewing Jr. and guard Sean Singletary in exchange for guard Bobby Jackson, rookie forward Donte Greene and Houston's 1st round pick next year.

Houston Rockets center Yao Ming scored 30 points to lead China to an 85-68 triumph against Angola Thursday, giving the Olympic hosts their 1st win of the Summer Games in men's basketball. Using an overwhelming height advantage, China dominated under basket and exploited frequently sloppy play by the African champions for easy baskets.

The Rockets expect to trim their roster and their bloated collection of forwards today by dealing Steve Novak to the L.A Clippers, an individual with knowledge of the deal said. The Rockets will receive future draft considerations from L.A. This will probably include the right to switch places with the Clippers in a 2nd round.

The L.A Clippers acquired Steve Novak, a forward who can shoot from the perimeter, in a deal with the Houston Rockets Wednesday. In return, the Rockets will have the option to exchange 2nd round picks with the Clippers in the 2011 NBA draft. Last season, his 2nd in the NBA, the 6 foot 10, 220 pound Novak averaged 3.9 points whilst playing in 35 games for Houston.

There is never a good time for a basketball player to suffer a foot injury. However, for Yao Ming, the latest stress fracture was the most untimely break of them all. Not only did it come in the middle of what would grow into an historic 22 game winning streak by the Rockets, it kept him out of the NBA playoffs and now imperils his level of display in the Beijing Olympics, which start Friday.

BEIJING (STATS), Yao Ming has quickly squashed any possible rift that could have developed with new teammate Ron Artest before the volatile forward's arrival in Houston. Earlier this week, it was widely reported that Artest could be coming to the Rockets from Sacramento for a 2009 1st round pick, guard Bobby Jackson and another player, likely rookie forward Donte Greene.
