Danny Granger, who is going into his 4th year, is still in his rookie contract. The Pacers can sign him to an extension at any time between now and the end of October. If not, he will be a restricted free agent next summer.

Sarunas Jasikevicius does not mince words, He blames most of his problems in Indiana on former Pacers and current Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle. "Obviously, the (up-tempo) style of play Rick promised me was never there, the opportunities to play were never there, and the players who were supposed to be gone by the time I came were still around", he said.

The Philadelphia 76ers signed free agent guard Kareem Rush Tuesday to help increase the team's 3 point shooting. Terms of the deal were not released. The 6 foot 6, 215 pound Rush has averaged 6.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 314 games in 5 NBA seasons. Last season with the Pacers, he averaged 8.3 points, a career best 2.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 21.

Police arrested a passenger in a car driven by Shawne Williams of the Pacers for marijuana possession, an incident that team president Larry Bird mentioned jeopardizes the forward's future with the Pacers. Williams was not arrested however was written up for a window tint and seat belt violation after the police stop about 6 p.m.

Larry Bird mentioned he expects to trade for or sign a power forward and has confidence he can trade point guard Jamaal Tinsley. The Pacers tried to solve both issues in one deal by offering Tinsley to Miami for power forward Udonis Haslem, however the Heat are reluctant to give up Haslem.

A source familiar with the situation mentioned Wednesday night that the Heat already got overtures from the Raptors, Pacers, Clippers and several other teams concerning Shawn Marion, who is seeking the type of lucrative extension Heat President Pat Riley appears reluctant to consider.

The Pacers are trading 6 time All Star forward Jermaine O'Neal to the Toronto Raptors for point guard T.J. Ford, center Rasho Nesterovic, the 17th pick in the draft and a player to be determined. O'Neal said the trade Thursday, saying he was pleased with the move by team president Larry Bird.

The Pacers traded 1st round draft pick Jerryd Bayless to the Portland Trail Blazers for No.13 pick Brandon Rush, Jarrett Jack and Josh McRoberts. Rush's agent, Mark Bartelstein, informed The Associated Press about the deal Thursday night, shortly after Portland picked Rush. Bayless was selected 11th overall.

2 people familiar with the situation mentioned the Pacers and Raptors have discussed trading Jermaine O'Neal for point guard T.J. Ford and center Rasho Nesterovic, whose contract expires after next season, and possibly Toronto's 1st round pick (No. 17) in Thursday's draft.
