New Wolves center Jason Collins expects to miss 8 weeks after undergoing surgery on a triceps tendon in his elbow Monday in California. He was injured in what was described as a 'freak' accident that occured when his golf cart skidded on wet ground and tipped over.

Timberwolves center Jason Collins had surgery to repair a ruptured triceps tendon in his right elbow. The team mentioned Thursday that Collins was injured in a freak golf accident when his cart skidded several wet ground and tipped over. The Wolves acquired Collins in a draft night deal with Memphis that also brought them Mike Miller, Brian Cardinal and rookie Kevin Love.

5 hours after more than 2,000 draft-party participants cheered the arrival of new Timberwolf O.J. Mayo, their NBA hometown team made a midnight deal that reshaped its roster. The Wolves dealt Mayo's draft rights along with Marko Jaric, Antoine Walker, Greg Buckner and their contracts to Memphis for the rights to Kevin Love, swingman shooter Mike Miller, forward Brian Cardinal and center Jason Collins.

When the Nets take the court tonight against Sacramento, they will have a different look, and no, it is not because they traded Jason Kidd. Lawrence Frank in the end pulled the trigger on his latest lineup switch, benching unproductive big men Jason Collins and Malik Allen for athletic, energetic youngsters Josh Boone and Sean Williams.

On June 28, the night of the NBA draft, Nets president Rod Thorn mentioned he has received several "interesting" trade offers, one of which, as stated by sources, was a blockbuster that could have sent Richard Jefferson, Nenad Krstic and Jason Collins to the Pacers for Jermaine O'Neal.

The Nets thought they would get Indiana interested in parting with Jermaine O'Neal, the perennial All Star power forward. The Nets, who were shopping Richard Jefferson throughout the league the last few weeks in hopes of landing a quality big man and also put Nenad Krstic and Jason Collins on the table, initiated the talks.
