e use our Rumors Form to send us your NBA Rumors Jason Williams said his retirement Friday, ending his 10 year NBA career less than 2 months after signing with the L.A Clippers. Williams helped the Heat to the NBA title in 2006, averaged 11.4 points, 6.3 assists and shot 39.6 percent from the floor in 679 games.

By signing Jason Williams, the Clippers basically eliminated themselves from re-signing point guard Shaun Livingston, who still has not been cleared for basketball as he recovers from a knee injury suffered in February 2007.

The L.A Clippers acquired still another player during their busy offseason, signing free agent point guard Jason Williams Thursday. The 32 year old Williams averaged 8.8 points, 4.6 assists, 1.9 rebounds and 28 minutes in 67 appearances last season with the Heat. His backcourt mate there is Ricky Davis, another free agent signed by the Clippers on July 28th.

Amid an ESPN report that Jason Williams is in serious talks with Israeli league team Tel Aviv, only received confirmation that there is indeed interest, however that a deal is not imminent. In fact, we have been informed by 2 sources that J-Will essentially remains in a holding pattern with a few possible suitors.

The Suns need to sign 3 players to reached the 13 man roster minimum. The priority was to land a veteran point guard before signing a wing and a big man. Phoenix will pursue Sam Cassell, Damon Stoudamire or Jason Williams to be its backup point and Carlos Arroyo if he fell to minimum-contract status.

A scout for a team in the Eastern Conference thinks Miami has a real dilemma on its hands if it drafts 1st, even though it is looking as if the Heat is point-guard challenged because Jason Williams is free agent material, Marcus Banks still has some proving to do, and Chris Quinn probably is best suited as a reserve.

There were rumors that the Nets were attempting to talk the Pacers into taking Vince Carter in exchange for Jermaine O'Neal, however Indiana has not budged. A report on ESPN.com last night also mentioned that the Nets, Knicks and Heat have had talks about a 3 way deal that would send Carter to the Knicks, Eddy Curry to Miami and the expiring contracts of Jason Williams and Ricky Davis to New Jersey.

With coach Pat Riley vowing to decrease the team's luxury-tax burden, the Heat continues to be mentioned in possible deals as the February 21 trade deadline nears. However, a proposed deal with the Sonics, who would send forward Wally Szczerbiak and point guard Earl Watson to Miami for Ricky Davis, Jason Williams and Dorell Wright, does not appear to have much traction.

Heat center Shaquille O'Neal and point guard Jason Williams were listed as day to day Thursday, after both had nagging injuries checked out by Miami team doctors. O'Neal got treatment on his achy hips.
