Jermaine O'Neal welcomed a trade from Indiana in an effort to rejuvenate his stalled career. Instead, O'Neal is again the focus of trade rumors as the Toronto Raptors, expected to make a deep run in the playoffs, continue their march toward the league's most disappointing team award. "I don't worry about that (trade) stuff," O'Neal said. "At the end of the day, I know what I can do and I will continue to prove it. If it doesn't work out (in Toronto), then it doesn't work out."

Jermaine O'Neal got off to a slow start to his career in Toronto, taking time to recover from a knee injury that sidelined him for half of last season. He is starting to find his groove of late, once again looking like the five-time All-Star he was in Indiana before being traded to the Raptors this summer.

T.J. Ford doesn't believe he was a problem for the Raptors last season and says his old team's sluggish start, its five-game losing streak (going into last night) and the firing of its coach supports his case. While the Indiana Pacers' point guard was adamant he wished no ill to the Raptors, especially opposite number Jose Calderon, he said he was pegged as the bad guy last season, the expendable one, in the decision to trade himself, Maceo Baston and Rasho Nesterovic for Jermaine O'Neal and the sidelined Nathan Jawai. "It wasn't one party the way it was made out to be," Ford said prior to his return to the ACC last night. "I got the blame for so-called messing things up, not being happy, whatever it was. But, as you see, I wasn't the only problem."

Raptors forward Jermaine O'Neal scooped up the game ball as the final buzzer sounded, not to remember a victory over Indiana, his former team, but to give new coach Jay Triano a memento from his first win.

Dwyane Wade did something the NBA had not seen in more than 31 years. It still was not enough to take down the sharpshooting Toronto Raptors. Andrea Bargnani scored a season high 25 points, Jermaine O'Neal added 16 points and 17 rebounds, and the Raptors were 8 for 8 on 3 pointers in the 2nd half to overcome Wade's huge effort and beat the Heat 101-95 on Wednesday night.

The Pacers are trading 6 time All Star forward Jermaine O'Neal to the Toronto Raptors for point guard T.J. Ford, center Rasho Nesterovic, the 17th pick in the draft and a player to be determined. O'Neal said the trade Thursday, saying he was pleased with the move by team president Larry Bird.
