A report from the has linked the Cavaliers to free agent forward Juwan Howard. They cite his numbers from Houston 2 years ago, 9.7 points and 5.9 rebounds in 27 minutes per game, and label him "productive". At 35, Howard is not really going to improve, and frankly he's one of the least productive players in the league regardless of what his numbers are.

A deal that makes sense for 2 teams is Jason Kidd to the Mavericks. To make the salaries match, the Mavericks would offer Devin Harris, Jerry Stackhouse, DeSagana Diop, Juwan Howard and Devean George.

The Mavericks are bringing back Juwan Howard after agreeing to terms with the veteran forward Tuesday. Howard, who played for Dallas during parts of the 2000-01 and '01-02 seasons, cannot sign with the Mavericks until he clears waivers Wednesday, the same day Dallas plays its season opener at Cleveland.

Howard, a 13 year veteran forward whose contract was bought out by the Timberwolves Monday, would fit nicely with James and the Cavaliers, who are desperate for experienced frontline help.

The Timberwolves did some wheeling and dealing Monday, reaching a buyout with veteran Juwan Howard and making a trade with San Antonio to get to the 15 man roster limit before the deadline.

The reported that the Celtics are one of 5 teams to which Timberwolves veteran forward Juwan Howard would like to be traded. Somebody asked Wittman Tuesday if another trade with the Celtics, which could be the Wolves' 3rd in less than 2 years, was forthcoming.

Timberwolves coach Randy Wittman calls Juwan Howard's relocation requests "a little bit blown out [of proportion], from a media standpoint. He's not demanding to be traded; he only would like the opportunity to win".
