Boston Celtics center Kendrick Perkins underwent surgery on his left shoulder Wednesday to repair an injury that nagged him during the NBA finals and forced him to miss Game 5. The Celtics mentioned Perkins, 23, had arthroscopic surgery at New England Baptist Hospital, as did rookie Bill Walker, who had damage to his right knee repaired Wednesday.

A glum Kendrick Perkins wrestled with an especially troubling question last night. Held out of the 103-98 loss to the Lakers in Game 5 due to a strained left shoulder that had required surgery only 2 years ago, Perkins faced the real possibility that he has played in his last NBA Finals game.

Rajon Rondo came in hurt and Kendrick Perkins went out that way. Good thing for the Boston Celtics they had reserves to fill those roles. Boston rode big bench contributions from James Posey and Eddie House to a 97-91 win over the LA Lakers Thursday, taking a 3-1 lead in the NBA finals.

Paul Pierce was not the only member of the Boston Celtics injured in Game 1 of the NBA finals Thursday. Center Kendrick Perkins, who collided with teammate Paul Pierce in the 3rd quarter sending him to the locker room with a strained right knee, went out himself several minutes later with a sprained left ankle.

The Celtics' mediocre display during the 4th quarter of Game 4 did not sit well with coach Doc Rivers. Yesterday, the Celtics fretted about possible Game 5 suspensions because during the Game 4 fracas Kendrick Perkins briefly left the bench and Kevin Garnett made contact with referee Ed Rush.

Yesterday, Mike Bibby was actually the type to pile on. After hearing what Kendrick Perkins had to say about his comments ("If you had a 2 for 10 shooting night, you will say something like that, too".) he aligned his crosshairs on the Celtics center.

The Celtics' opponents are learning a hard lesson, Pay too much attention to the Big 3 and their solid supporting cast will beat you. Kendrick Perkins scored 19 points and Rajon Rondo had a career high 16 assists in Boston's 108-100 win over the Charlotte Bobcats Friday. "(That) shows how unselfish Rajon is", mentioned Celtics forward Paul Pierce, who scored 13 points.

Playing without injured starters Kevin Garnett and Kendrick Perkins, the Celtics became the 1st team in the NBA to reached 40 wins with a 104-97 win over the Pacers Tuesday.
