The San Antonio Spurs re-signed Kurt Thomas Tuesday, getting the veteran forward under contract after trading for him in February. Terms of the deal were not disclosed however Spurs GM R.C. Buford mentioned Thomas will be with the team at least 2 seasons.

Assuming Ian Mahinmi graduates from Austin next season, Tiago Splitter signs and Kurt Thomas re-signs (all of which are plausible assumptions), Matt Bonner's minutes appears to be on the wane. He's having enough trouble getting on the floor during the stretch run this season.

In a 3 way trade with the Bulls and Cavaliers, the SuperSonics got only the expiring contracts of Ira Newble, Donyell Marshall and Adrian Griffin in a deal that raises questions after Seattle moved Kurt Thomas to the Spurs earlier this week.

The San Antonio Spurs acquired veteran forward Kurt Thomas from the SuperSonics Wednesday for guard Brent Barry, center Francisco Elson and a 2009 1st round draft pick. The 6 foot 9 Thomas, in his 13th NBA season, gives the defending NBA champions much-needed size to complement Tim Duncan.

Phoenix has a trade exception they acquired from Seattle in the Kurt Thomas trade, however the luxury tax would double the salary of whoever they bring aboard in a deal. That means free agents or other minimum-salary players could be likely targets.

It had taken a 19 year old with his whole array of skills on display, and the wily experience of a 35 year old veteran to in the end get the SuperSonics a win at home. An unlikely combo? Sure, especially since Kevin Durant keeps reminding Kurt Thomas he's old enough to be his dad.

With an open roster spot and a need to replace the departed Kurt Thomas with another big man, the Suns are willing to allow a sparse free agent crop at the position dwindle, waiting to see whether veteran P.J. Brown decides to play and if he is interested in Phoenix.

Please use our Rumors Form to send us your NBA Rumors The SuperSonics acquired veteran forward Kurt Thomas and the Suns' 1st round draft choices in 2008 and 2010 Friday in exchange for a conditional 2nd round draft choice. Seattle also used its $9 million trade exception with Phoenix to have completed the deal.

There is not much scuttlebutt being talked about involving Seattle in probable trade scenarios. Seattle could be interested in Phoenix big man Kurt Thomas, however that is unconfirmed. Tacoma
