The Pistons open training camp in 13 days, and for the 1st time in several years, the camp will feature an honest to goodness battle for one of the 5 starting positions. First year coach Michael Curry will have given Amir Johnson, Jason Maxiell and Kwame Brown a legitimate and fair shot at unseating veteran Antonio McDyess as the starting power forward-center opposite Rasheed Wallace.

Pistons coach Michael Curry is looking forward to working with the team's new starter, and he's not talking about power forward Kwame Brown. Curry was not talking about Brown, the 6 foot 11 former No.1 draft pick who split last season with the Lakers and Grizzlies.

Kwame Brown expects to be the latest player to resurrect his career with the Pistons. The Wizards drafted the 6 foot 11 center No.1 overall out of high school in 2001, however he was tagged as an underperformer early in his NBA career, and he's played for 3 teams in 7 seasons, averaging only 7.5 points and 5.7 rebounds.

The Pistons sign free agent center Kwame Brown, the overall No.1 pick in the 2001 draft. The team said the signing Monday. Team president for basketball operations Joe Dumars informed The Associated Press last week that Brown will be paid $4 million next season. Brown has an option for a 2nd season for another $4 million.

Kwame Brown and the Pistons agreed to terms on a deal potentially worth $8 million over 2 seasons, team president of basketball operations Joe Dumars informed The Associated Press Monday. Brown, the No.1 pick overall in 2001, will make $4 million next season.

Lakers officials claim it was all however a done deal, Lamar Odom, Kwame Brown and Andrew Bynum for Kevin Garnett, upon pending approval by Minny owner Glen Taylor. That is when Kobe Bryant got publicly bent out of shape concerning the Lakers' supposed rebuilding methodology and deferral of title wave aspirations.

Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak's buy of 7 footer Pau Gasol from the Grizzlies for Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton and 2 1st round draft picks, a trade Jerry West mentioned he was not involved in, contradicting the rumors and conspiracy theories that have buzzed around the Internet, was a good one, he believes.

Kobe Bryant is not going anywhere and never was. He hates to admit it, however he's better off, and the talk is the Lakers are looking hard to move Kwame Brown's expiring contract for another piece and make a serious championship run.
