The Charlotte Bobcats waived little-used forwards Andre Brown and Linton Johnson and were on the verge of signing center Dwayne Jones on Wednesday. The Bobcats were also one of several teams pursuing forward Antonio McDyess as the Bobcats look for ways to boost a thin front line. GM Rod Higgins said the 6 foot 11 Jones would likely sign on Thursday.

The Wizards signed free agent forwards DerMarr Johnson, Linton Johnson and Taj McCullough Monday, bringing the team's training camp roster to 17. The 3 will have "a chance to compete for a roster spot", team president Ernie Grunfeld said. DerMarr Johnson has played for the Hawks, Knicks, Nuggets and Spurs in 7 NBA seasons, averaging 6.2 points and 2.2 rebounds.

Executive director of basketball operations Danny Ainge said yesterday that the team is working out several free agents this week, that included ex Celtics forward Eric Williams, center Kelvin Cato, forward-center Esteban Batista, and forward Linton Johnson III.
