As crowded as the guard spot appears to be, it would not hurt the Lakers to take a long look at Shaun Livingston, who was playing five-on-five, for at least the past week and a half, at fitness trainer Tim Grover's Attack Athletics facility in Chicago. Clippers athletic trainer Jasen Powell said Wednesday that Livingston has progressed to playing full-scale, full court pickup games with the contingent of 20 or so NBA players that work out regularly at Grover's site.

The Clippers re-signed unrestricted free agent center Paul Davis Monday, giving L.A 3 players named Davis on their 15 man roster. He joins Baron Davis and Ricky Davis, another pair of free agent additions.

The LA Lakers signed free agent forward Josh Powell Thursday. Terms of the contract were not released. The 6 foot 9 Powell, a 3 year NBA veteran, spent last season with the L.A Clippers, averaging 5.5 points and 5.2 rebounds in 64 games. Powell has career averages of 4.2 points and 3.6 rebounds in 138 games with Dallas, Indiana, Golden State and the Clippers.

By signing Jason Williams, the Clippers basically eliminated themselves from re-signing point guard Shaun Livingston, who still has not been cleared for basketball as he recovers from a knee injury suffered in February 2007.

The L.A Clippers acquired still another player during their busy offseason, signing free agent point guard Jason Williams Thursday. The 32 year old Williams averaged 8.8 points, 4.6 assists, 1.9 rebounds and 28 minutes in 67 appearances last season with the Heat. His backcourt mate there is Ricky Davis, another free agent signed by the Clippers on July 28th.

The Rockets expect to trim their roster and their bloated collection of forwards today by dealing Steve Novak to the L.A Clippers, an individual with knowledge of the deal said. The Rockets will receive future draft considerations from L.A. This will probably include the right to switch places with the Clippers in a 2nd round.

The L.A Clippers acquired Steve Novak, a forward who can shoot from the perimeter, in a deal with the Houston Rockets Wednesday. In return, the Rockets will have the option to exchange 2nd round picks with the Clippers in the 2011 NBA draft. Last season, his 2nd in the NBA, the 6 foot 10, 220 pound Novak averaged 3.9 points whilst playing in 35 games for Houston.

The Clippers continued their offseason makeover Monday, signing veteran swingman Ricky Davis to a multiyear contract. Terms were not announced. Davis, an unrestricted free agent who turns 29 in September, averaged 13.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists whilst playing in all 82 games for the Heat last season.

Kelenna Azubuike will return to the Golden State Warriors after the club matched the L.A Clippers' 3 year, $9 million contract offer for the shooting guard Thursday. Azubuike averaged 8.1 points and 4.0 rebounds in 81 games last season with the Warriors, who signed the former Kentucky guard out of the NBA Developmental League in January 2007.

Jason Hart returns to the L.A Clippers. The Clippers acquired the 30 year old local product from the Jazz Wednesday in exchange for Brevin Knight in a swap of point guards. "We are glad to have Jason back with us", GM Elgin Baylor mentioned in a statement.
