The Mavericks re-signed forward Devean George Monday, nearly 6 months after the veteran player blocked a trade to the New Jersey Nets. George played his 1st 7 seasons for the LA Lakers before signing with the Mavericks in 2006. Terms of the deal were not immediately available.

Sun Yue, a 2nd round pick in the 2007 NBA draft, signed a multiyear contract with the Western Conference champion LA Lakers. Terms of the deal were not announced.

As crowded as the guard spot appears to be, it would not hurt the Lakers to take a long look at Shaun Livingston, who was playing five-on-five, for at least the past week and a half, at fitness trainer Tim Grover's Attack Athletics facility in Chicago.

As crowded as the guard spot appears to be, it would not hurt the Lakers to take a long look at Shaun Livingston, who was playing five-on-five, for at least the past week and a half, at fitness trainer Tim Grover's Attack Athletics facility in Chicago. Clippers athletic trainer Jasen Powell said Wednesday that Livingston has progressed to playing full-scale, full court pickup games with the contingent of 20 or so NBA players that work out regularly at Grover's site.

LA Lakers center Pau Gasol scored 20 points to lead world champion Spain to a 72-59 triumph against Croatia Wednesday in men's basketball. Felipe Reyes added 13 points for Spain, whilst Toronto Raptors point guard Jose Calderon added 10. Gasol also had a game high 10 rebounds. Marko Banic had 15 points to lead Croatia.

Spain and Pau Gasol had mentioned too much was being made about a controversial photo the team did for an ad campaign and Thursday they played like it in a convincing 72-59 win against Germany. Gasol, the LA Lakers center, scored 13 points for Spain, which was cheered by the crowd at the basketball arena.

The LA Lakers signed free agent forward Josh Powell Thursday. Terms of the contract were not released. The 6 foot 9 Powell, a 3 year NBA veteran, spent last season with the L.A Clippers, averaging 5.5 points and 5.2 rebounds in 64 games. Powell has career averages of 4.2 points and 3.6 rebounds in 138 games with Dallas, Indiana, Golden State and the Clippers.

The LA Lakers agreed to terms with guard Sun Yue, who is playing for China and will face Kobe Bryant and the U.S. men's team Sunday in the Beijing Olympics. Lakers spokesman John Black declined Saturday to talk about details of the terms and mentioned it maybe some time before a contract is signed.

The Lakers and point guard Sun Yue have agreed to terms on a 2 season contract, the team said Thursday. The Lakers hope to sign Sun formally within the next few days, team spokesman John Black said. "Hopefully, it will get done soon", Black said. Sun, known as the Chinese Magic Johnson due to his eye catching playmaking ability, will face his future teammate Kobe Bryant when China plays the U.S Sunday in the Olympic Games opener in Beijing.
