With Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker sidelined, Tim Duncan figured to get the last shot in a tie game. Wrong. Roger Mason got the call, and the 29 year old journeyman came through. Mason made a 3 pointer with 8.4 seconds remaining Monday night, lifting the San Antonio Spurs to an 86-83 win over the L.A Clippers for their 3rd straight win.

Even without Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili, the San Antonio Spurs were too much for the New York Knicks. Tim Duncan had 23 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists to lead San Antonio to a 92-80 win over the New York Knicks on Tuesday night in the Spurs' 1st game without Parker. He will miss about a month due to a moderate left ankle sprain.

Whilst the news about Tony Parker's injury was worse than the Spurs had hoped, they have been encouraged by the progress being made by All Star guard Manu Ginobili as he rehabilitates his surgically repaired left ankle. Ginobili ran through a vigorous shooting drill on Sunday that included finishing a series of sprints and shots with a sprint down the middle for a catch and dunk.

San Antonio Spurs guard Manu Ginobili had arthroscopic surgery to repair a ligament injury in his left ankle. The Spurs mentioned Wednesday that the surgery in L.A had gone well and Ginobili will be in a splint and on crutches for 3 weeks.

Manu Ginobili did not suit up for Argentina's bronze-medal game against Lithuania at the Olympics Sunday and mentioned after the 87-75 win that he was headed for San Antonio for more tests on the strained ligament in his left foot. It is the same injury that hobbled him at the end of the Spurs' season.

According to a report posted on ESPN.com Friday that cited NBA front office sources, the 35 year old guard forward has reached terms on a deal with the Spurs. Terms were not available, the report said. With Manu Ginobili providing a spark for the Spurs off the bench, Finley started 61 games last season.

Spurs coach Gregg Popovich mentioned Thursday that Manu Ginobili should "definitely not" play for Argentina in the Olympics if his injured left ankle does not improve. Ginobili hurt his ankle early in the playoffs and a recent MRI said that a ligament in his heel is about 5 times the size of the one in his other heel, Popovich said.
