Thompson's the only other guy on the Cavs next to LBJ that actually plays D. The Cavs need to add Greg Monroe without giving up Tristan, not in place of him. That Cavs D would be an All-Time train wreck.

Tristan thompson has not played exceptional defense since the 2016 season. Check out the game he recently played against the knicks prior to injury. Kanter dominated him as he had 1 point and 0 rebounds. Look at the first two games of the finals where thompson had awful games.

William, so you're saying a sample size of 3 games should be the deciding factor on wether or not TT plays good defense? He's a solid defender. His post defense is below average, but there aren't many teams looking to consistently post up and his defensive versatility makes up for it. Monroe isn't a good defender any way you slice it and isn't going to help the Cavs on that end. TT can bring energy and defense, which the Cavs need far more than Monroe's post offense. Monroe would be a decent pick up, but there are plenty of centers that would be better fits for the Cavs.

Chandler isn't as good as Tristan at this point and Dudley isn't a huge upgrade over Shumpert. This would make an older Cavs team possibly the oldest team of all time. I really don't see the point for the Cavs.

Another angle to why this ain't going to happen. Thompson's agent is Rich Paul (KLUTCH Sports) . The same guy who was Earl Watson's agent and Eric Bledsoe's as well. One could say that Paul orchestrated a considerable portion of the Bledsoe turmoil all the way thru Bledsoe's time in PHX. Safe to say the relationship between the Suns
front office and KLUTCH is not good at all.
