Early in the season, there was a lot of steam over a Taj-Martin swap, but Martin has played poorly to make a swap impossible. Moreover, with Noah likely out for the season, CHI can't trade Taj to get a chance for more three-point shooting that Hoiberg's offense requires.
I think if we see a deal between the two teams, it will be trading Noah's $13 mil dead salary and a late, protected first for Martin, perhaps Payne, and about $10 mil in savings by getting Reinsdorf under the lux. CHI can't afford to swap production around and still be able to beat CLE in a 7-game series (though I loved watching them beat the Cavs last night! ) . I think they need to add talent, and if they don't want to offer much value, the way to do it is to look at riskier guys that have produced in the past (Martin, Markieff, Ty Lawson) . Those three can be had for a song, and Martin probably fits their needs better than the other two.
