Potential knicks off season.

Assume Afflalo and Williams opt out.

That puts them at 60million, including the cap holds for early and galloway.

Ideally, i'd say try and trade oquinn and calderon for non-guarenteed crap, that would open up another 11.6 million. Not realistic though. Probably could trade Oquinn and then stretch calderon.

This would give approximately 50million in payroll.

So the knicks have Porzingis, Melo, Lopez, Grant, Early, Gallow, Wroten and 42million in cap space.

I would give 4 x 20 to batum
I would give 3 x 13 to Rondo

Then you have about 9 million left to spread among the final 3 players. I mean, even if you don't get rid of OQuinn or stretch Calderon. this is still possilbe and likely the best scenerio.

Starting lineup:

Rondo
Batum
Melo
Porzingis
Lopez.

That is a solid rotation.

Rondo would be perfect for Porzingis but not so sure how he would fit with Melo as both need the ball to be effective.

2.) 27 May 2016 18:25:01
Maybe try trading melo but just not sure if you can get anything of value for a declining player getting paid $25 mil for the next 4 years.

3.) 27 May 2016 20:56:48
1st - melo and rondo would be great. Rondo doesn't shoot much at all. He is actually the exact type of pg that would work great with melo. Get him the ball in the spots he needs it to be gotten. No issues there.

2nd - Melo has max, 3 years left on the contract. There is an ETO after the 2nd year. so yeah, not really that daughnting. On top of this. declining how? He averaged 22 pts a game, while having the second best rebounding year of his career, the best passing/ assist year of his career. If you are going to say declining because his points dropped to 13th in the league. ok. but you probably shoudl take into account that all the rest of his game was more team oriented and he had the worst pg play of his career. Which matters when trying to score.

Knicks would be perfectly wise to keep melo, build around porzingis, and snag 1 or two upp[er level FA and they are right in the picture again.

4.) 27 May 2016 21:34:05
That is realistic Mike. Like that you post your own idea. Finally.

5.) 28 May 2016 00:25:09
I've posted my own ideas before. Just not too many trade options going on. If you actually pay attention. It's usually just the same people restating the same trade. Every day. If you want I'll just repost this every other day if that'll appease you If not. I'll stick to occasional posts when actual events happen to make them plausible. Thanks.

6.) 28 May 2016 00:43:26
Why would the Knickes trade O'Quinn? He's on a cheap contract and he's young.

Question. Can the Warriors and thunder both sign and trade durant for Barnes?

Just got a feeling when the Warriors said they are open to sign and trade Barnes if he wants a change of scenery. sounds like something may be happening.

mikerockwell

1.) 15 Jun 2016 04:22:03
Thunder will not help the Warriors get Durant.

2.) 15 Jun 2016 04:30:18
Yup. As long as both agree to go there and work out a contract they can.

3.) 15 Jun 2016 15:34:25
Yeah it happened a few years ago with Knight going to the Bucks and Jennings going to the Pistons. But like NBA said I don't think the Thunder would want to help out the Warriors.

4.) 15 Jun 2016 16:50:55
Hey nba.

It wasn't a question of if the teams will do it. It was if they could.

Winston or another Minnesota fan. can you give me some input here. I don't follow the wolves THAT much to really know what they do, but what if somehow they luck out and get the 1 or 2 pick?

What would they do if they have Simmons?

Rubio
Levine
Wiggins
Simmons
Towns

What would they do with Ingram?

Rubio
Wiggins
Ingram
Towns
Dieng

They could definitely fetch some valuable role players for levine and dieng, or would they put one on the bench? Quite a nice scenerio. This franchise is setting itself up to be a BEAST for years to come if it can keep its core intact.

Personally I don't want Simmons on this roster. He has all the talent in the world but his attitude seems toxic. We have a very good core so its not a matter of being desperate for star talent so.

If we get #1: take Ingram, let him learn, strengthen up and play as the catalyst with the second team until such time as Rubio leaves/ Lavine is traded or he gains the strength to play smallball power forward. This would be my best scenario.

If we get #2 and Ingram is gone trade for a Stretch 4: no names come directly to mind, but I'm sure there are some out there.

If they do take Simmons, put him at the 4 and hope he developed a jumper and some heart.

Otherwise I'm a proponent of trading back with the 5th/ 6th pick (if Jamal murrays gone) and getting bench help which we need.

2.) 10 May 2016 17:19:58
BTW: I'm against trading Lavine right now. Its like stock in a company you know is going to grow into something good. You don't sell midway thru its ascension, you wait till it matures and then, if it doesn't fit your portfolio, you sell high.

Some ideas to help bensimmons out.

Vucevic and a 2nd for cousins.

Vucevic straight up for harden

Vucevic and s&t Fournier for Irving and love.

Vucevic and a future lakers 1st for griffin and cp3.

Think the magic are offering a bit too much in these, but the foundation is there. Just need to figure out if the magic are willing to give up the top center and possibly best offensive threat in the league for some lesser talented players that gms claim to be "franchise players"

Tre. You think anything and only, when the sixers get a top 2 for okafor is it fair. Here's a hint. Lakers didn't take him at 2 last year thinking he was solid at low post offense. Ok at rebounding. Bad at defense. He's done nothing to improve on that. So now they give up a FAR better two in Ingram for a less valuable okafor. Riiiiiiight.

Scuba pro. Put down the bong. You also say okafor is worth more than the 2 pick because Ingram is a multi year project and okafor is already the greatest center to play the game. Seriously. Do you watch basketball?

Neither of those trades are possible. As has been quite clear the past week or two, even though some sixers fans, tre, value Noel and okafor about as high as Michael Jordan and Jesus Christ. they just don't have anywhere near that value.

Knicks aren't giving up Lopez AND a first for rose. Williams is a negative. Get real.

At this point it's comical. Some sixers fans on here believe they will win championships not based on anything on the court. Rather they will win because embiid and Simmons looks good on the beach. That's lovely.

Wait. Just a question. Actually two. First, did you mention the same exact okafor trade for the nineteenth time? Second. Did you just proclaim Simmons is a superstar because you like his muscular physique? Interesting way to pick talent. I like durant and curry and their non muscular physique. You can keep Greg oden and his stunning pecs.

Roy. funny
Steal. funny
Bust. only if people are expecting the same thing as porzingis
Best of the draft. and yet you have neither winning Roy even though both will get massive amounts of playing time and the ball.

Great analysis.

Winston. To be fair. Cousins has average defense. Zbo makes up in toughness what he lacks in defense. Jefferson and Monroe, unless I'm mistaken, have been career losers.

You listed 4 people. 3 of them probably have a career win percentage of about 30%. What's that tell you?
