Sacramento more clearly addresses their needs of shooting and defense, while spreading out the playmaking/passing responsibilities across more positions (Cousins and Gay are going to have the ball in their hands a certain amount of time anyway, so getting a shooter in Russell instead of a more ball-dominant guard like Mudiay seems more efficient). They could sign a SG like Afflalo to a short deal (so he cashes in with new TV deal) while Stauskas develops and Collison eventually goes back to a 6th man role.
The Sixers might have a hard time choosing between Russell and Mudiay (who seems like a better fit to drive and dish to Embiid, even though he seems to be higher-risk, higher-reward), but with this trade they surround Mudiay with shooting in McLemore and Covington and solve their crowded frontcourt problem for the next draft. The Sixers can still afford to swing big for a while, but at least they can go forward with this core and build without a crazy amount of roster turnover.

i don see the sixers dropping 3spots in the draft and trading noel for mclemore and mcallum. just giving up more to get less?? great for sac though, very one-sided imo.

I say the sixers do it even though even though it is true, worth than that I say phil jackson has shown to look like bigger idiot than what the sixers have planned over last 5 yrs. This is why I believe the league planted the ping pongs in favor of lakers and wolves bc the sixers and now knicks have idiots in management. If any team 3 yrs in a row has a worse top 5 records, they should give their franchise to another city. A little different than what english soccer does. But the goal is to punished teams who stay bad on purpose.
