76ers / Lakers

love the move getting Stauskas and a future #1 for a salary dump of $13 mill for the next 2 years. Wont effect sixers at all. Still very low payroll. And contracts are off the books when the cap jumps big and the sixers may actually have a decent young team. Sixers will cut Landry, but keep Thompson. 6'11", plays good defense. can score a little as well. Actually cost about the same as keeping TRobinson(who will not be resigned now). Stauskas is a 6'6" SG, good size and a pure shooter(had tough rookie year, but only got 15 min a game. will have chance to actually play in philly).
As predicted, Lakers struck out on all power forwards and centers in FA.
Sixers trade Noel, Lakers #1 next year(looking top 10 to me. Really, how will they possibly make the playoffs in the west next year??). And I'll add Sacrementos future #1 we just got in the stauskas deal.
Lakers send DeAngelo Russell to philly. Sixers do it if Embiid is clear to go, which I think with the glass half full, may just happen.

Lakers say no thank you. If they wanted a big man instead of Russell, they'd of drafted Okafor. Accept the fact you missed out on him & let it go.

With that logic, NO draft picks would ever be traded after they are picked. Sorry guyys, no trades this year again, we missed out, let's accept the fact we missed out and move on. Might as well get rid of the gm position as well. This forum wouldn't exhist if we all accepted the fact we missed out and moved on.

@Tomsbakery

I don't think the idea is that the Sixers missed Russell. I think the idea is that the Lakers got Russell and expected to bang out a couple BIGS in the FA market.

If they strike out in FA market, its their perspective that's changed, not the Sixers. Its the Lakers that might want to revisit the draft, not the Sixers.

Its not a bad idea from JVoug, except that I'm not ready to trade Noel even if Embiid is healthy. I still have the crazy idea that the three BIGS can split 96 minutes at 32 min/game each.

That isn't the thinking of the lakers or any of the insiders. the thinking was all along that okafor does not have SUPER STAR potential. Russell does. The lakers liked okafor, but eventually stopped being so high on him, and russell just kept impressing.

Everyone knows the sixers have very little bargaining power now that they have all bigs and zero decent guards. Especailly not for noel. the lakers have no interest in trading russell for noel and any assortment of picks. The lakers are ALWAYS in win now mode. that trade would be at least a full year set back. Not to mention the values are no where similar. Again, Noel is a solid player. Will have a solid career. He is not a superstar. His offensive game is not good and doesn't seem like it will improve much.

In order to be elite, Noel needs to gain legit, 40lbs of muscle. AND an offensive game. Neither will happen, so Noel remains a solid player, great value at the 6. but no chance he's anywhere near the level of russell or the potential of russell. Lakers strongly pass.

@PhillyRich1

Even if that is the case, they've still no reason to trade Russell for Noel, their build has just taken a different turn now.

Noel isn't worth Russell as of yet. Russell hasn't even played a game, but from what we've seen from Noel, I agree with @Pizza. He's never going to be a superstar. He will have a solid career doing what he's required to do; Rebound, block & putback's. That's not superstar material. Solid player who can however be a difference maker on a winning team.

I wouldn't do the trade. I want to see how Noel and Okafor fit together. I want to see what's up with Embiid.

I think with all the Sixers draft picks, they can get their guards next year. And with the Stauskus deal, if its as reported, they have another protected 1st and 2 unprotected 1st round swaps with the Kings.

And what's a key for the Sixers is that they have their BIGS in house, future picks in the bank, still some cap flexibility, and don't have to spend their entire off season hoping that Greg Monroe is coming to their fantastic city as a FA building block.

As for Noel, to be elite he just has to keep working hard.

Going into free agency I felt philly could have upgraded their roster to playoff bound. They have so much cap. They could've gotten a veteran-all star caliber pg and a solid SG like k Middleton or w Mathews etc. They can't afford to keep drafting and doing salary dump trades

02 Jul 2015 20:46:44
They could not have gotten Middleton or Matthews, not this year.

The Sixers will have to make the move forward like the Bucks and show the league that they have talent. Nobody wants to come to a team that looks like a grease fire from the outside.

So the Sixers will have to draft their talent first then add with FA after. It might be a year or two before the Sixers go for the FAs.

Pizza u can't be serious. We know what noel is. Russell isn't worth Noel yet so I would not trade noel for russell straight up. Lakers WOULD and SHOULD be all over this. They have clarkson who is pretty good. Why not add a center to play with randle.

Makes sense for both teams without all the picks tho. We keep picks

Noel for russell straight up if embiid is good 2 go

I`m seeing an abundance of Laker Fans who continue to post Philly trades that go in favor of the Lakers. You are surely mistaken. Philly has the bigs it needs and more to build around and make trades to reestablish our Brand of basketball culture. The NBA is full of good guards now. so most teams(LIKE THE LAKERS) will be scrambling to find big men to support rebounding and defense in the paint. Its easy to get a scorer, but defense wins championships. (Injuries lost it for the Cavs. lol! sorry Cavs fans). so good luck with Roy Slowmoe, in the West where Centers are fast as PFs.
