76ers / Knicks

Sixers need a point guard. Knicks are drained of draft picks. Nothing worse then being poor or mediocre at best and having zero #1 picks.

Sixers get: Jerrian Grant
Knicks get: less valuable of OKC 2016 or Miami 2016 #1 and Denver's 2016 second round pick.

Why it works: Knicks are completely out of next year's draft. This trade gives them a #1(in the #25 range) and a #2(in the #33 range) next year.

Grant and Sixers seem to be an ideal fit. Big pg with a decent outside shot.

Knicks traded for grant and was the number 19 pick so why would they trade him. He eventually will replace Calderon in the lineup This year

25 Jul 2015 17:11:14
I like Grant, I think he'll be a pretty good PG in this league. I don't think he's a good fit in NY.

That being said, just because your team likes all the draft picks they can get doesn't mean other teams will throw away good young players for a late 1st rd pick.

25 Jul 2015 17:44:34
Try the bucks and Heat they have 4 pgs, knicks need grant. But take Calderon, knicks will give him for 2nd and take on Aldemir Thompson players not part of the rotation. Only cost sixers an extra 3 mil in 2016 & 17. Bc than Knicks will contact for Bayless and Chalmers.

25 Jul 2015 18:02:00
Sixers do that. I'm not sure the Knicks do. They like Grant. Sixers should have tried to acquire on draft day. They missed out.

Newlakerdynasty. I was comparing this deal with the Cavs/wolves deal. Wolves have #31 and #34 for #24(tyus Jones). I thought the Sixers picks offered are around #25 and #33 for Grant( #19), better picks for a slightly higher pick. Thought I was in the ballpark comparing to current trade values. Plus, it gi es Knicks some flexibility in next year's draft, which they are currently shut out of. And I love the way you already have Grant as a " good young player" when he hasn't played a minute yet. He's still a gamble, just like draft picks. This trade isn't that off. But keep bashing anything that could possibly benefit the Sixers. Can't wait to use YOUR pick in the draft.

25 Jul 2015 20:44:05
I'd pass on that's trade. Seems to me guys like grant comes around all the time. So I don't need him.

25 Jul 2015 22:48:22
Wolves didn't have thirty four they had around pick thirty eight. Knicks made up for next years draft with trading for willy herm and trading hardaway for grant. There's still a draft lottery so can't keep out any team nit getting there pick back

25 Jul 2015 22:59:39
You can use your picks buy you guys giving every player four year deals you will end up cutting the ones that will turn out to be good. Also we'll see if he players you draft want to actually play for you if you read some reports agents and players didn't want to go to the sixers. Just keep finding players with picks attatched to salary dumps like Landry and Thompson because you actually have to spend your money next year.

26 Jul 2015 03:12:47
THEKING. you are making my point for me. Actually Minn traded pix 31 and 36 for pick 24(Tyus Jones). That's actually LESS value then what I originally incorrectly posted with pix 34 and 31 for pick 24. My point was, and still is, trade value is in the ballpark for the trade I proposed.

@jvoug
Grant might end up being a steal at #19, he might not sign another contract after this one. My point is the Knicks have to give him a shot to see how it ends up. Why would they trade up to get that pick just to trade him before he ever plays for 2 later picks? They keep kicking the can down the road and never actually get to see if these picks develop into players or not. I'm bashing the 76ers because all they're doing is flipping assets for more picks. They just keep spinning their wheels doing that. They may get the best prospect year after year, but if they keep trading players and picks for more picks, any good young player they pick will more than likely go someplace else to compete when they become a free agent. Now they can't get any free agents to sign there because of their reputation. Never going to compete for anything with a team full of rookies and guys under 24.

26 Jul 2015 07:49:25
MY pick in next year's draft will end up on another team 4 years down the road and will have to be taught to be a winner after being held captive in that losing culture in PHI. I can't wait till your GM picks 2 more centers in the draft.

26 Jul 2015 13:10:55
Newlakerdynasty. other then MCW and KJ McDaniel, what other good young players have the Sixers drafted and flipped for more assets and picks?? Hinkie cleaned house, and is trying to build a foundation that can be competitive after taking over an organization in shambles thanks to the Doug Collins regime. Fa's wouldn't come to philly before hinkie, the draft is the only way to start the rebuilding. And MCW wasn't a good fit here, so kj is the only questionable move I can see. Now it's time to overspend a bit and hopefully get a fa to come here next year. Have okafor and Noel gel as a front court. Hopefully saric comes over next year. Develop stauskas into the player he can be. It's a process, and the Embiid gble sure slowed us down, but we will see progress next year.

26 Jul 2015 15:57:27
Twelves also trade future seconds or maybe 2. The problem is they if you overpay for a free agent they might not come anyway. Just look at the Kings this year. Offered Andrea bargani Tobias Harris and Wes Matthews more money and they still didn't sign. In the near future with all else four year deals your giving people like Scottie wilbiken your going to end having to cut people and might end up cutting or trading the wrong one.

26 Jul 2015 16:45:56
wilbekin is a third string pg at best, these guys come and go on every team. And only the first year of his 4 year contract is "partially" guaranteed. This guy will be lucky to be around in 4 months, forget about 4 years. Starting 5 will be: C:Okafor, PF:Noel, SF:Covington, SG:Stauskas, PG:Wroten. Bench: SF:Grant, C:JThompson, SG:HThompson, PG:Ish(they will re-sign him), PF:Landry. Deep bench: PG:PJackson, PF:Aldemir. SF:RHolmes, G/F:JSampson, G:Wilbekin(or McConnel, or Canaan, or anybody else for that matter).

26 Jul 2015 18:18:11
Since you guys value your players very highly having four first round picks and future picks will make you get rid of players. It might be hard to let them go won't it? You guys can get the world for them right? Nope. You can't get the world and then some for people like Covington and Noel. Deal with it

26 Jul 2015 19:11:15
Let me think??? Get rid of Canaan, Sampson, wilbekin, Thompson(either one), Landry, aldemir, ish, McConnell, pjackson. Yeah. I think I can deal with it. But thanks for the advice. Appreciate it big time.

26 Jul 2015 23:22:47
Saric coming over? International players you wasted five second round picks on? Still have to spend at least 80 mill of 89 mill cap space next year? Four first rounder? However many second rounders? Embiid coming back? Everyone would want to play.

27 Jul 2015 05:19:11
@jvoug
If they will trade the reigning Rookie of the Year halfway through his 2nd season, nobody's safe.

MCW wasn't a good fit there? After a season and half on one of the worst 3 teams in the league and he wins ROY, who's a better fit for them at PG? Give him time to develop before you toss him away.

Let's assume that pick in the trade produces a top tier PG. How many years is it going to take for him to develop for them? 3-4 years? By that time, he's either gone after 4 years cause PHI sucks, or the other core young guys are gone for the same reasons. Hinkie's "process" is one that secures his job, not produce a competitive team. If his process is a 3-4 year one each year after the draft, his job is safe until the delusional fans figure out they'll never be better than 5th worst in the East.

27 Jul 2015 15:46:56
Then glaring need for hinkie this year was point guard. What do they do with five second round picks and the number three pick? Not draft a point guard and are sending jp tokoto who can be the steal of the draft to overseas. In free agency you do the classic and sign wilbekin and Jackson to four year deals like always despite the NBA did an investigation. You traded for more big men in Landry and Thompson and a shooting guard for extra picks. Hinkie has no clue what he's doing
