Minnesota Portland

Pek + Martin for Leonard, CJ + Haywood

Minnesota gives up Martin but can remove Pek contract
Portland hopes Pek stays healthy and has more developed players to be with Lillard

Portland says no, cj is much younger than Martin, and Leonard is the new breed of center as he can shoot threes and defend the rim pretty well. Also pekovic is very injury prone and overpaid. Portland won't be able to do anything with these additions so better for them to build toward future.

I think the Wolves would want a shooter back if they are giving up Martin, and I don't think this deal really fits with the Portland's youth movement

This is probably a no from both teams

Wolvesfan, McCollum and leonard and both shot around 40% from three last year so they are getting shooters in return. And Minnesota would gladly take on two young players and get rid of pekovic's contract. MIN says yes.

McCollum and Leonard both shot better than Martin from 3 by the way. If minny passes they're crazy.

I realize the Wolves would want Leonard, he is a great talent, McCollum is a point guard though and the Wolves just don't need another PG, and while Peks contract is a negative, it's not as bad as you might think with the cap expanding

30 Jul 2015 20:06:24
And while McCollum shot 39% from 3, he only took 2 a game, and he shot under 70% from the free throw line, doesn't qualify as a shooter to me, and Leonard is a big who could shoot but the Wolves would want a wing player

30 Jul 2015 21:58:45
Martin shot about the same as McCollum bu also to over 4 3s a game

31 Jul 2015 00:02:13
Wolvesfan McCollum is a 6'4" combo guard not a point guard, and he only took 2 threes a game because he was only playing 15 minutes a game, per 36min he took 5. And he is a better free throw shooter than 70%. In four years of college he shot 80% and in the playoffs he shot close to 80%.

31 Jul 2015 14:07:32
So he used to be good in college and got hot in the playoffs? He hasn't shot over 70% in the regular season yet.

And I don't get why people disagree when I put actual statistics, do people not agree with statistics?

31 Jul 2015 15:18:39
You said he shot 39% from 3's, but you still don't consider him a shooter, that's where the disagree is. McCollum is probably starting at SG for Portland this year. Over the last two months of the season last year he averaged 16ppg, and was a lights out three point shooter. He's not a great free throw shooter yet, but watch him, it's not because he's a poor shooter, he just rushes his free throws, he'll be a 80%+ FT shooter in the next two years.
