While I understand this trade I don't understand where Bennett will play. Are we going to play him at the three??

Landry is most likely not going to be with the team at the start of the season according to what I saw, so Bennett would step in as a backup 4

Seems like we'd be putting him in the same situation to dial as he was already in. Next year he'd be gone regardless with saric and embiid coming over. I would only do the trade if I felt he could be my starting three.

Just for a minute, let's forget about where Bennett was drafted.

One guy is due $6 mil this year with a club option for $7 mil next year. He's averaged 5 points per game, shoots 30% from 3 point range, and 4 rebounds per game.

Then there's the other guy, who's due $1 mil this year with a club option for $1 mil next year, averages 9 points per game, shoots a consistent 40% from three point range, and averages 3 rebounds per game.

1. Why would the Sixers do this? Doesn't the 2nd guy have much, much more value in this league as both a player and a contract?
2. Why do they have to throw in a 2nd rounder?
3. Does Anthony Bennett really have a chance to be a player in this league? He appears to be a stretch 4 that cannot shoot.

He could have been a Sixer two years ago. Hinkie made the trade with the Pelicans for Holliday, but only if Olidipo, Noel or Bennett were there when New Orleans picked. Noel was there, the trade was done.

If Bennett can play some sf then yeah. He did slim down but the question is can he defend.

I'm not too concerned with defense at the three. Brett brown teaches defense better then most coaches and even if he isn't a great defender you have Noel and okafor as help defenders. That's not bad back up if Bennett can defend. My concerns are more with shooting. Bennett would need to be able to spread the floor for those two bigs.

Noel is a good help defender but when you said okafor, his biggest concern was defense I hope you know

04 Aug 2015 15:29:16
Also Hollis Thompson averaged 10 more minutes than Bennett and he's only 21 with a improving three point shot and shots better field goal percentage than Hollis but as long as Bennett keeps improving the deal is fine

All the comments above in favor of Bennett use the word IF.

IF Bennett did everything that's said above, he'd turn into H. Thompson. Why would the Sixers make that trade, especially given the disparate contracts?

Why not trade grant for Bennett? Both are young and Bennett can shoot better than him

The king.

Okafor is better defensively then people give him credit. It was only certified more in summer league games. He's not an above average defender but he gets his hands up without fouling. That's all most bigs have to do to be a factor in the paint. He can do that.
