Very interesting. Lakers get absolute superstar in Lilard. Portland gets great young potential in Okafor and Clarkson, and Philly gets the pg they wanted. Everyone gives up tremendous value, but gets huge value in return. Don't think it will ever happen, but I like it.

That's pretty funny. If you think about it, the Sixers are trading up to get the #2 pick at the cost of the #3 pick without having to throw in a kicker.

The Lakers wouldn't even have had to include the Sixers in this trade if they'd simply drafted Okafor themselves.

Sixers are happy with Okafor, especially since Embiid is having surgery #2 this week. They say no to this and will just wait until next draft to get their young PG.

Like philly said the sixers get the 2 pick of the Draft without a kicker so I think leaving them out is fine. But I don't see lilard getting traded considering he was made face of the franchise which was one of the reasons Lemarcus left

Portland wouldn't do that, no way. They already have three young bigs in vonleh, Leonard, and plumlee. And clarkson will be at best an average starter.

And obviously this makes no sense for Phili, they picked okafor over Russell for a reason.

I can't even think of a way to edit this trade to work for all sides. I honestly don't think the lakers have the assets to pry lillard from Portland. Clarkson and Russell isn't enough, and I can't see the lakers including any unprotected firsts, but that's what Portland would want.

@BenMiller
Philly didn't pick Okafor ahead of Russell. The Lakers picked Russel instead of Okafor. If I remember correctly most of not all of Philly fans wanted Russel, so if they had their choice before the news of Embiid's 2nd surgery, it sounds like they would have preferred Russel instead of Okafor.
This may be my bias showing through, but Clarkson looks like he's going to be really good and I think he can be a fringe all-star player eventually.

@benmiller Philly didn't pick okafor over Russell. Lakers had the 2nd pick and 3rd pick was for the sixers. Clarkson will be better than you think

17 Aug 2015 08:09:50
Derp, of course, my bad. I disagree about clarkson still. How good can he be? I see 10-15 PGs that I can't see him being better than. Maybe he tops out as a fringe top 10 PG, but all star? Over curry, lillard, Conley, Paul, ect? I don't see it. More likely he's about where Lawson topped out at (and that's best case scenario). I think CJ McCollum has just as much chances of being an all star as clarkson.

17 Aug 2015 14:35:10
Once clarkson improves his shooting to around 33-35 percent and improves his defense he can be a top 10 point guard in about 2 years when people like Paul and Parker will be fighting Father Time

17 Aug 2015 15:05:35
Chris Paul is too smart of a player to only be playing 2 more years lol. His knowledge of the game and ball handling skills help him out, not to mention the guy is one of the best PG defenders in the game.

17 Aug 2015 15:19:49
Paul will be a bit declining by then but he will still be a top ten or five point guard.

17 Aug 2015 16:55:26
Sixer fans did want Russell in front of Okafor. But that was before Embiid broke. At that point, we were ambivalent. And after the summer games and watching Okafor, I think we're happy we have him. Like his attitude. Like his game. Alot.

18 Aug 2015 00:57:37
My bad clarkson won't be a top 10 point guard because he won't be playing now. He will be a top ten shooting guard in 2-3 years. Shooting guards have less competition compared to point guards.

18 Aug 2015 05:34:48
I meant he won't be playing point guard now he'll be playing shooting guard*
