Trade has already been posted. On this same exact spot from jvong you said you would only trade the Miami first and a second round pick

And lakers say no chance.

I don't want it at the expense of Clarkson. We know what we have in Jordan and everyone in the orginization is praising this kid (Nash said the sky's the limit on his potential). That pick will likely fall between 7-10 (7 if Kobe is injured and misses a large portion of the season again, 10 if they can manage his minutes and get 65 games out of him). Best case scenario, you get a guy who develops into an all-star in 3-5 years. Clarkson is already on that trajectory (not saying he is or is a lock to be an all-star, but with his talent, work ethic, and attitude, I think he will be an all-star reserve in the near future). Worst case you get a bust like Jimmer or Austin Rivers. If Clarkson continues to improve and turns some heads this year, he'll help attract top tier free agents, a rookie in the mid to late lottery will not.

I think his worst case is what people compared him to in draft and that was Rodney stuckey. He was drafted 46 and turning into stuckey isn't bad. But he could become a mini Westbrook( not saying he will be on Westbrook level) he drives to the rim passes good and rebounds very well for his position. Much rather have a guy who's proven himself and still improving than probably a project player

I think Sixers would pass. A top ten pick is too much for clarkson right now. He has been good for one season and one season only. He wasn't. A first rounder so this kind of production was a surprise. He's got more to prove then other guys because of his draft spot. Just my opinion. He looks promising but not that great yet.

Disagree with just about everything lakers just said lol. First, if Kobe plays 65 games. not sure why they aren't a fringe playoff team. There are definitely many worse teams than the lakers. Second, clarkson showed he's relatively capable. That's it. Not all star. Not superstar. Just can make it in the league. Which is more than most mid first rounders. Tends to be hit or miss.

Additionally, the lakers wouldn't give him up for their own pick. That way if they win, they get less. It doesn't make sense as a whole.

Pizza
I don't think they will be a playoff team if Kobe can stay relatively healthy only because of their youth & inexperience. They'll be starting 2 rookies essentially (Russell & Randle) and Clarkson is in his 2nd season. The west is still too good for them to crack the top 8.

I didn't say he's an all-star right now. He showed he's one of the top 5 rookies last year. With the skills he's shown and his potential, work ethic, etc, I think he can make the all-star team in 3-5 years (not voted as a starter, but make the team). All I'm saying is I'd rather roll with him as is right now and the potential he has to improve in a few years than a mid to late lottery pick and all the unknowns that come with them.

Tregib just because they were drafted in the first round doesn't make them starts already. Numerous NBA players that are key players have been drafted in the second round. Draymond green, Marc gasol, manu ginobili, Isaiah Thomas
