The Mavericks re-signed forward Devean George Monday, nearly 6 months after the veteran player blocked a trade to the New Jersey Nets. George played his 1st 7 seasons for the LA Lakers before signing with the Mavericks in 2006. Terms of the deal were not immediately available.

The New Orleans Hornets turned to a familiar face to fill an opening in the backcourt, signing Devin Brown Friday. Brown, formerly of the Cavaliers, played with New Orleans 2 seasons ago and was brought back to increase the depth in the backcourt depth. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

New Orleans Hornets guard Jannero Pargo is the latest player to turn his back on the NBA for Europe. Pargo signed a one year deal with Dynamo Moscow of the Russian League, agent Mark Bartelstein informed The Associated Press in a phone interview Friday. The one year deal is worth nearly $4 million and is about twice what Pargo made for the Hornets last season, Bartelstein said.

Dynamo Moscow coach David Blatt has his eye on former Hornets guard Jannero Pargo, who is being tracked by San Antonio and Denver. Those teams were offering a little more than $2 million. Pargo's agent, Mark Bartelstein, is using the interest in Russia as leverage with the NBA clubs.

The New Orleans Hornets will play 7 preseason games before their season opener at Golden State in late October, that included 2 games in Europe as part of NBA Europe Live. The Hornets take on the Wizards on October 14 at the O2 World in Berlin, Germany. The game will be one of the 1st major sporting events held at the arena, which opened last fall.

The New Orleans Hornets re-signed free agent forward Ryan Bowen Monday. It will be the 2nd season in New Orleans for the 6 foot 9 Bowen, an 8 year veteran who spent his 1st 5 seasons in Denver before going to Houston for 2 years. Terms of the deal were not released.

Barring an 11th hour change of heart, the Nets were set last night to say farewell to center/forward Nenad Krstic, who had a 2 year deal worth $10 million in place with a Russian team. The Nets, with the salary cap in mind, had until midnight to attempt to pull off a sign and trade, a scenario that seemed unlikely with Krstic, a restricted free agent.

The Nets still have a lot of power forwards. That means if they can find takers for Stromile Swift and/or Sean Williams, I know some of you will not like that I include his name however they are looking to move him, the Nets will deal each or both.

The Nuggets brought back Chris Andersen, signing the frontcourt player known as "Birdman" Thursday. Andersen was reinstated by the NBA in early March after being kicked out on January 27, 2006, for violating the league's drug policy. The 6 foot 10, 228 pound Andersen played in 5 games for the New Orleans Hornets last season, averaging 1.2 points and 1.8 rebounds a game.

Jennaro Pargo, whom the Hornets would like to re-sign, would like a 3 year deal and got interest from several teams. He has opted out of his contract with the Hornets the past 2 years only to re-sign with them.
