The Italian Stallion's back is still not 100 percent. Still resting an injured back he suffered during summer league in Las Vegas last month, Knicks 1st round pick Danilo Gallinari has withdrawn from the Italian National Team, which kicks off today its Eurobasket Qualifier tournament vs. Serbia.

Twenty-three months could appear a long time, however it is not, not when Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and Chris Bosh become free agents in July 2010 and other franchises already are plotting to sign them. James probably is bound for New York, where he will either join the restructured Knicks or his soul brother, Jay-Z, with a New Jersey team off to Brooklyn.

The Knicks and Nuggets are discussing a trade that would send 2006 1st round pick Renaldo Balkman to Denver for point guard Taurean Green and small forward Bobby Jones, an NBA front office source informed last night.

The Nuggets acquired forward Renaldo Balkman from the New York Knicks Monday for guard Taurean Green, forward Bobby Jones and a 2nd round draft pick in 2010. The Nuggets also get cash in the deal said by Mark Warkentien, Denver's vice president of basketball operations.

The New York Knicks signed guard Anthony Roberson Friday, giving them 16 players under contract and a crowded backcourt. Roberson has played 36 career NBA games with Memphis and Golden State, however spent last season in Turkey and Israel.

GM Donnie Walsh likely will make a trade before training camp starts in Saratoga September 29, with unloading Zach Randolph's contract a priority. Randolph was a Vegas no-show. Turns out the Clippers tried to swipe a 1st round pick from the Knicks to take Randolph off their hands, which is why Walsh declined.

The Knicks finished the Las Vegas summer league yesterday the way they came in, unsure if 19 year old rookie Danilo Gallinari will contribute this season. After suffering a back injury in Monday's opener against Cleveland, the Italian Stallion missed the final 4 games, that included yesterday's 111-91 loss to Minnesota in the finale at UNLV's Cox Pavilion to finish 2-3.

Kevin Love was held out of the Timberwolves' summer league game Sunday afternoon against the New York Knicks for precautionary reasons with an inflamed left Achilles. He left in the 2nd half of Minnesota's game Saturday against the Bucks with the same injury, which team official do not consider severe.
