The Lakers and point guard Sun Yue have agreed to terms on a 2 season contract, the team said Thursday. The Lakers hope to sign Sun formally within the next few days, team spokesman John Black said. "Hopefully, it will get done soon", Black said. Sun, known as the Chinese Magic Johnson due to his eye catching playmaking ability, will face his future teammate Kobe Bryant when China plays the U.S Sunday in the Olympic Games opener in Beijing.

Former Orlando Magic point guard Carlos Arroyo signed to play in Israel next season, as stated by a newspaper in Israel. Haaretz is reporting Sunday that Arroyo - who played for the Magic since midway through the 2006 season - will play for Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Point guard Carlos Arroyo, who spent the last 2 seasons with the Orlando Magic, has become the latest NBA player to bolt overseas, signing with an Israeli team. The 29 year old Arroyo signed a one year deal with Maccabi Tel Aviv. "I am very happy we have completed this signing", Maccabi coach Effi Birnboim mentioned Monday on the club's Web site.

The Hawks completed their deal with Maurice Evans Tuesday, locking up a replacement for 6th man Josh Childress. The 6 foot 5 Evans started 47 times for the Orlando Magic last season and averaged a career high 9.3 points.

The New Jersey Nets acquired guard Keyon Dooling from the Orlando Magic in a sign and trade deal Monday. In exchange for Dooling, the Nets gave the Magic cash and the trade exception they got in the deal that sent Jason Kidd to the Mavericks.

The agent for Memphis' Javaris Crittenton mentioned Monday that the Magic were in trade talks with the Grizzlies about the 2nd year point guard. NBA teams are not allowed to comment on the availability of players affiliated with other teams.

However, Magic GM Otis Smith mentioned the Magic still maybe in the market for help at point guard.

Keyon Dooling, Orlando's top reserve off the bench last season, blasted the Magic for offering him their Bi-Annual Exception, a contract that could be worth $4.2 million for 2 years. Dooling, who made $3.5 million last season whilst averaging 8.1 points and 1.8 assists, summarily discarded the offer saying he was "insulted" by it.
