Ray Allen was not so sure Boston would be able to pull it out in overtime. The Celtics had not scored in nearly 3 minutes and were fading fast in their 8th game in 12 days. However, Paul Pierce hit a 3 pointer on a 2nd chance, and he and Allen hit all 6 of their free throws, lifting Boston to a scrappy 102-97 overtime win over the Bucks on Saturday night.

Slow starts are only temporary setbacks for the Boston Celtics. For the 2nd straight game, the defending NBA champions trailed early then won by a big margin, beating the Bucks 101-89 behind 18 points and 10 rebounds from Paul Pierce on Friday night. "When you get used to winning, you are like, `We will get back in this game'," Pierce said.

President Bush Friday welcomed the Boston Celtics to the White House to celeberate the team's 17th NBA championship, declaring "Celtic pride is back". Bush saluted Celtics' captain Paul Pierce, who led the team to a title and was MVP of the finals inspite of suffering a knee injury early in the series.

Police detained NBA player Paul Pierce in handcuffs during a weekend traffic stop on the Las Vegas Strip, however released him without issuing a summons. Las Vegas police Officer Bill Cassell mentioned Monday that Pierce was handcuffed briefly after emerging "a little agitated" from a vehicle he was driving around 3 a.m.

Paul Pierce mentioned it. He meant it. And he still means it. The Boston Celtics small forward/guard recently was asked by a Spanish publication whether he thought Kobe Bryant was the best player in the world. Pierce mentioned no. The NBA Finals MVP called himself the "best player".

The Gatorade-stained shirt worn by Boston Celtics coach Doc Rivers as the team won its 1st NBA championship in 22 years was auctioned for $55,000. An anonymous bidder bought the shirt, autographed by Rivers and Celtics player Paul Pierce, and the accompanying Gatorade bucket at a charity auction on sports radio WEEI-AM's Web site.

Paul Pierce was winning his matchup with Kobe Bryant until the Lakers player stole the game away in the final minutes. Pierce scored 38 points on offense and helped slow down Bryant on defense in Game 5 of the NBA finals Sunday.
