The Clippers re-signed unrestricted free agent center Paul Davis Monday, giving L.A 3 players named Davis on their 15 man roster. He joins Baron Davis and Ricky Davis, another pair of free agent additions.

The L.A Clippers acquired still another player during their busy offseason, signing free agent point guard Jason Williams Thursday. The 32 year old Williams averaged 8.8 points, 4.6 assists, 1.9 rebounds and 28 minutes in 67 appearances last season with the Heat. His backcourt mate there is Ricky Davis, another free agent signed by the Clippers on July 28th.

The Clippers continued their offseason makeover Monday, signing veteran swingman Ricky Davis to a multiyear contract. Terms were not announced. Davis, an unrestricted free agent who turns 29 in September, averaged 13.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.4 assists whilst playing in all 82 games for the Heat last season.

In a season in which the Heat's veteran players have had to dig deep to find anything positive, swingman Ricky Davis would potentially hit the jackpot. If things go as stated by plan for the next 2 games Davis will become the only Heat player to play all 82 games this season.

Pat Riley expressed an interest in re-signing erratic Ricky Davis, even speaking of the 'kind of position we would expect him to play next year. For the last 4 or 5 years he was a playmaker in his mind, a go-to guy. In our exit meeting, I will have given him a series of numbers to show why he might must adapt his game with us.'

There were rumors that the Nets were attempting to talk the Pacers into taking Vince Carter in exchange for Jermaine O'Neal, however Indiana has not budged. A report on ESPN.com last night also mentioned that the Nets, Knicks and Heat have had talks about a 3 way deal that would send Carter to the Knicks, Eddy Curry to Miami and the expiring contracts of Jason Williams and Ricky Davis to New Jersey.

With coach Pat Riley vowing to decrease the team's luxury-tax burden, the Heat continues to be mentioned in possible deals as the February 21 trade deadline nears. However, a proposed deal with the Sonics, who would send forward Wally Szczerbiak and point guard Earl Watson to Miami for Ricky Davis, Jason Williams and Dorell Wright, does not appear to have much traction.

There is still talk that Miami is trying to use the expiring contracts of Jason Williams and Ricky Davis to put together a deal for Mike Bibby and Ron Artest. A player with an expiring contract who should be moved before long is Utah's Gordon Giricek, long out of favor and lately expressing his displeasure.

The Heat upgraded their bench Tuesday, and the result was an easy night for the starters. Pulled from the starting lineup for the 1st time this season, Ricky Davis and Jason Williams responded with strong games as reserves to help the struggling Heat beat the Charlotte Bobcats 110-90.
