According to the 's Sam Amick 2 sources close to the Pistons have indicated the that the Pistons have considered a trade for the Kings' Ron Artest. Joe Dumars, for the record, could be glad this is getting out since he is supposedly tired of fans thinking he's sitting on his hands.

The Kings have expressed interest in acquiring Mavericks forward/guard Josh Howard in a trade for All Star forward Ron Artest, however the Mavericks are not interested, as stated by an NBA source. The Mavericks supposedly were willing to offer forward Brandon Bass and guard Jerry Stackhouse for Artest.

Miami is thought to have interest in Ron Artest and be willing to part with Shawn Marion, whose $17.1 million deal also is expiring. As will be the case with most suitors, the question will be whether the Kings can include forward Kenny Thomas and his deal that includes 2 more seasons and approximately $18 million.

According to a league source, the Lakers already have contacted the Kings concerning Ron Artest and are thought to be offering forward Lamar Odom. As of Tuesday evening, the Kings had not returned the call. They expect to say on forward Kenny Thomas and his $18 million of remaining salary (over 2 seasons) being included in that possible trade.
