3 time NBA champion Sam Cassell mentioned today he plans to become an assistant coach with the Boston Celtics after playing one more season. After finishing the 2008/2009 season, he plans to exercise an option to join the coaching staff.

The Suns need to sign 3 players to reached the 13 man roster minimum. The priority was to land a veteran point guard before signing a wing and a big man. Phoenix will pursue Sam Cassell, Damon Stoudamire or Jason Williams to be its backup point and Carlos Arroyo if he fell to minimum-contract status.

Free agent point guard Sam Cassell, 38, has informed the he's interested in playing one more season and will consider the Nuggets. And there are rumblings that, with Chicago having drafted point guard Derrick Rose with the top pick, Bulls point guard Kirk Hinrich maybe on the move, with Denver a probable landing spot.

2 days after soaking in the love of the fans in his basketball home, Sam Cassell bathed in the admiration of the fans in his real hometown. And after spending most of Saturday evening as the center of attention at a celebrity charity game at the Towson Center, Cassell proclaimed that neither Boston, Baltimore or the NBA had seen the last of him in uniform.

Prior to the appearance in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference finals, Sam Cassell had gone 4 straight games without playing via the dreaded DNP-coach's decision. "It is very frustrating", Cassell mentioned yesterday when asked if the lack of playing time was difficult to deal with.

The Clippers are interested in signing veteran point guard Smush Parker, waived recently by the Heat, for the rest of the season, Clippers sources said. The Clippers have targeted another NBA veteran point guard since purchasing out Sam Cassell's contract last month and after Ronald "Flip" Murray passed them over to sign with the Pacers.
