Sasha Vujacic went through his 1st practice with the LA Lakers since spraining his left ankle on the 1st day of training camp. "It thinks good. There are only certain movements, certain things I cannot do", the 24 year old guard said Monday. "We'll see how it thinks tomorrow and go from there.

Had it been strictly a matter of economics, Sasha Vujacic could have left the LA Lakers to play in Europe. Turns out Vujacic's decision was based on more than only the money. "I am glad it worked out. Tough month", Vujacic mentioned Monday at team headquarters after signing a 3 year, $15 million contract to return to the Lakers.

The Lakers continue to wait for Sasha Vujacic and Ronny Turiaf, however they have fall back plans in case their restricted free agents do not re-sign with them. The Lakers have talked with representatives of Boston small forward James Posey and veteran San Antonio sharpshooter Brent Barry to gauge the free agents' interest.

The Lakers are well over the salary cap and cannot sign any big names on other teams, so they hope to retain 2 of their own players, Sasha Vujacic and Ronny Turiaf. Both are restricted free agents, meaning the Lakers can match any offer sheet they sign with another team.

The LA Lakers have given qualifying offers to restricted free agents Sasha Vujacic and Ronny Turiaf. GM Mitch Kupchak said the moves Monday. The Lakers, beaten by Boston in 6 games in the NBA finals, expect to remain essentially intact for next season.

Sasha Vujacic used to be called "10:30" by his teammates because he was known for his lights out shooting in the morning at practice as opposed to his lack of accuracy when it really counted, at night.

Sasha Vujacic, of all people, came to the aid of Kobe Bryant where his more prominent teammates mostly failed. With that, the LA Lakers got the win they had to have.
