Even when Timberwolves manager Kevin McHale declined to extend Sebastian Telfair a qualifying offer before free agency began, he knew he would like the point guard to return to Minnesota. On Tuesday, the sides reached agreement on a multiyear deal to make that happen.

The Heat expressed interest in several free agent point guards Tuesday, that included Sebastian Telfair (unrestricted after Minnesota declined to tender him) and Tyronn Lue. However, as of Tuesday afternoon, the Heat had not called about Baron Davis (who would like far more than Miami's $6 million mid level or Chris Duhon.

The Timberwolves extended qualifying offers to restricted free agents Ryan Gomes, Craig Smith and Chris Richard Monday and chose to allow Sebastian Telfair and Kirk Snyder become unrestricted free agents.

Stephon Marbury mentioned late last season he would love to reunite with Kevin Garnett. However, Marbury thinks no remorse Garnett is off to Beantown and thinks the Knicks should not be afraid of the new-look Celtics. Marbury also had taken shots at Minnesota GM Kevin McHale, expressing concern his cousin Sebastian Telfair, involved in the blockbuster, has to play for him.

The Celtics will soon land All Star forward Kevin Garnett in this offseason's blockbuster trade. Boston, in return, has agreed to send Al Jefferson, Gerald Green, Theo Ratliff, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair and 2 1st round picks to the Timberwolves.

Celtics director of basketball operations Danny Ainge acknowledged yesterday that he has talked with the Timberwolves about a possible trade for Kevin Garnett. However, Ainge refused to comment about a published report that had the Celts shipping Al Jefferson, Gerald Green, Sebastian Telfair, Theo Ratliff and the 5th pick in next week's NBA draft for the All Star forward.
