Houston Rockets forward Shane Battier practiced with the team for the 1st time on Tuesday, but Ron Artest and Yao Ming missed the workout after leaving Monday's win over Oklahoma City with sprained ankles. Tracy McGrady also practiced on Tuesday after re-aggravating his sore left knee in Monday's game.

Houston Rockets forward Shane Battier will be sidelined up to 4 weeks and miss most of preseason due to an inflammation in his left foot. He had surgery May 9 to remove bone spurs from his left ankle, and the team mentioned the foot inflammation occurred during rehabilitation. The Rockets open training camp Tuesday.

Houston Rockets guard Tracy McGrady will play against Phoenix Friday after missing Wednesday's game against Seattle with a sore left shoulder. However, team officials mentioned Rockets forward Shane Battier was questionable for the game with a bruised left foot and ankle.

After their 15th straight win, the Houston Rockets in the end moved up in the Western conference standings. Tracy McGrady scored 22 points, Shane Battier added 20 and the Rockets tied a franchise record with a 103-89 win over the Nuggets Sunday.

Bryant scored 45 points, 18 in the 4th quarter, however Shane Battier made a tiebreaking 3 pointer with 2.5 seconds left in the Rockets' 95-93 win over the LA Lakers Tuesday.

Bulls guard Kirk Hinrich has withdrawn from the USA Basketball team trying to qualify for the Olympics. Hinrich was a somewhat reluctant participant from the starting, and USA Basketball said Monday that he was leaving the team, which starts training for the FIBA Tournament of the Americas Wednesday in Las Vegas. Also withdrawing were Shane Battier and Greg Oden.
