The Trail Blazers are thinking about signing former L.A Clippers point guard Shaun Livingston after top members of the Blazers front office viewed an hour workout with the 23 year old point guard Friday in Tucson, Ariz.

The Heat, which likes free agent Shaun Livingston but has some concerns about his knee, brought ex Gators 6-6 forward Matt Walsh to Miami last week and may possibly sign him. Walsh appeared in 2 games for the Heat in 2005 and played in Europe during the past 2 years.

The workout was viewed by GM Kevin Pritchard, assistant GM Tom Penn and coach Nate McMillan.

As crowded as the guard spot appears to be, it would not hurt the Lakers to take a long look at Shaun Livingston, who was playing five-on-five, for at least the past week and a half, at fitness trainer Tim Grover's Attack Athletics facility in Chicago.

Clippers athletic trainer Jasen Powell said Wednesday that Livingston has progressed to playing full-scale, full court pickup games with the contingent of 20 or so NBA players that work out regularly at Grover's site.

2 intriguing names keep popping up on my Hawks radar in terms of free agents (not named Smith finally) that are still floating around. Jannero Pargo and Shaun Livingston. Pargo is a scoring machine that has bounced around the league and produced everywhere he's been (most recently in New Orleans). He's available and would have given whatever team he joins a scoring boost off the bench.

By signing Jason Williams, the Clippers basically eliminated themselves from re-signing point guard Shaun Livingston, who still has not been cleared for basketball as he recovers from a knee injury suffered in February 2007.

The L.A Clippers mentioned Wednesday that they had renounced their rights to Shaun Livingston, the recuperating guard who is an unrestricted free agent, and 4 other players. The other players are Dan Dickau, Boniface Ndong, Smush Parker and James Singleton.

After nearly a year and a half of rehabilitation, Clippers point guard Shaun Livingston was medically cleared for basketball-related activities. Livingston, 22, has played 2 games of one-on-one this past week and his seriously injured left knee has enhanced to the point where is now dunking.

The Clippers expect to retain Shaun Livingston for next season, however the only question will be for how much. They would easily keep him by making a qualifying offer before July 1 and pay him $5.8 million next season.
