With Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker sidelined, Tim Duncan figured to get the last shot in a tie game. Wrong. Roger Mason got the call, and the 29 year old journeyman came through. Mason made a 3 pointer with 8.4 seconds remaining Monday night, lifting the San Antonio Spurs to an 86-83 win over the L.A Clippers for their 3rd straight win.

Stephon Marbury did not go around house-hunting in Alamo City yesterday, but the exiled point guard acknowledged if the Knicks cut him and point-guard-light Spurs show interest, San Antonio would be on the top of his list. Spurs GM R.C. Buford has said he could look for a point guard after losing Tony Parker for a month.

Even without Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili, the San Antonio Spurs were too much for the New York Knicks. Tim Duncan had 23 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists to lead San Antonio to a 92-80 win over the New York Knicks on Tuesday night in the Spurs' 1st game without Parker. He will miss about a month due to a moderate left ankle sprain.

Tony Parker's injury leaves the Spurs with only 2 true point guards, veteran Jacque Vaughn, who did not play in the last 2 games, and rookie George Hill, who was playing with a flexible splint on his sprained left thumb. GM R.C. Buford did not rule out signing another point guard. Since the Spurs already have the league-maximum 15 players, that would require waiving a player.

Whilst the news about Tony Parker's injury was worse than the Spurs had hoped, they have been encouraged by the progress being made by All Star guard Manu Ginobili as he rehabilitates his surgically repaired left ankle. Ginobili ran through a vigorous shooting drill on Sunday that included finishing a series of sprints and shots with a sprint down the middle for a catch and dunk.

Tony Parker will be out about 4 weeks with a sprained left ankle, a critical blow to the San Antonio Spurs, who are off to their worst start in 12 years. An MRI taken on Saturday showed the injury to the Spurs' star guard, who was hurt during a 99-83 loss to the Heat on Friday, 2 nights after scoring a career high 55 points against the Timberwolves.

The San Antonio Spurs canceled practice on Saturday, a day after All Star guard Tony Parker sprained his left ankle and was expected to miss at least 2 weeks. Parker was injured during a 99-83 loss to the Heat on Friday, 2 nights after scoring a career high 55 points against the Timberwolves. He was expected to have an MRI examination on Saturday.

Being 0-3 really bothered Tony Parker. The San Antonio Spurs needed every last layup and feathery jumper from the fast-moving Frenchman, whose unstoppable display was enough to fuel their 1st win. Parker scored a career high 55 points, including a 20 footer at the buzzer to force a 2nd overtime, in San Antonio's 129-125 win over the Timberwolves on Wednesday night.

Heading into the playoffs hoping to defend their title, the San Antonio Spurs will clearly need to step up their game if they would like to repeat. Tony Parker tied his season high with 32 points and added 11 assists as the struggling Spurs managed to pull out a 101-98 win Monday night against the depleted Kings.
