Houston Rockets forward Shane Battier practiced with the team for the 1st time on Tuesday, but Ron Artest and Yao Ming missed the workout after leaving Monday's win over Oklahoma City with sprained ankles. Tracy McGrady also practiced on Tuesday after re-aggravating his sore left knee in Monday's game.

Tracy McGrady feels like he's back to square one with a troublesome left knee that gave out on him again. At least his Houston Rockets appear able to pick up the slack if he's going to be sidelined.

The Houston Rockets refused to allow a big 4th-quarter lead slip away 2 nights in a row. Yao Ming scored 21 points, Tracy McGrady added 18 points and 9 rebounds, and the Rockets bottled up Chris Paul in a 91-82 win over the New Orleans Hornets on Saturday.

The NBA has suspended Steve Nash and Matt Barnes of Phoenix and Rafer Alston of Houston for their roles in a fight. Alston and Barnes were suspended for 2 games without pay and Nash for one. The league also fined Shaquille O'Neal $35,000 and Tracy McGrady $25,000 on Friday for their actions during the Rockets' 94-82 win in Phoenix on Wednesday.

Tracy McGrady snapped out of a slump to score 22 of his 27 points in the 2nd half Wednesday night, and the Houston Rockets beat the Suns 94-82 in a game that featured a scoring landmark for Shaquille O'Neal and a skirmish that drew 2 ejections and 7 technical fouls.

Everything the Knicks do now is about preparing for the Summer of LeBron. In July 2010, LeBron James, Chris Bosh, Dwyane Wade, Amare Stoudemire, Tracy McGrady and Tyson Chandler, among others, will be eligible for free agency. One Western Conference exec is convinced James' exit from Cleveland is inevitable. Unless it is a sign and trade, LeBron could get more money from the Cavaliers than any other team. The Knicks hold a decided edge over Cleveland and lots of other suitors due to the exposure and marketing opportunities the city offers.

Like Boston last season, the Rockets assembled a "Big Three" of their own by acquiring Ron Artest to join Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming. Artest, who averaged 20.5 points with Sacramento last season, adds toughness, versatility and a 3rd scoring option the Rockets have lacked since McGrady arrived in 2004.

The Houston Rockets, buzzing about the arrival of Ron Artest, already have injury concerns with Tracy McGrady. Houston's leading scorer mentioned Monday that his left shoulder is arthritic and will require surgery after this season.
