Terry scored 31 points, and Dirk Nowitzki added 24 points and 12 rebounds in the Mavericks' 96-86 win over the Rockets. Howard, the Mavs' 2nd leading scorer, was inactive due to a left ankle injury.

Houston Rockets forward Shane Battier practiced with the team for the 1st time on Tuesday, but Ron Artest and Yao Ming missed the workout after leaving Monday's win over Oklahoma City with sprained ankles. Tracy McGrady also practiced on Tuesday after re-aggravating his sore left knee in Monday's game.

The Houston Rockets refused to allow a big 4th-quarter lead slip away 2 nights in a row. Yao Ming scored 21 points, Tracy McGrady added 18 points and 9 rebounds, and the Rockets bottled up Chris Paul in a 91-82 win over the New Orleans Hornets on Saturday.

Since acquiring Ron Artest in the offseason, the Houston Rockets have talked boldly about contending for the NBA championship. They have a lot of improvements to make before that happens. Yao Ming had 21 points and 10 rebounds, Artest added 16 in his Houston debut, and the Rockets overcame poor shooting to beat the Memphis Grizzlies 82-71 Wednesday.

Like Boston last season, the Rockets assembled a "Big Three" of their own by acquiring Ron Artest to join Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming. Artest, who averaged 20.5 points with Sacramento last season, adds toughness, versatility and a 3rd scoring option the Rockets have lacked since McGrady arrived in 2004.

Yao Ming's birthday wish, getting through an NBA season without getting hurt. The 7 foot 6 center, who turned 28 on September twelve, has missed more than 80 games across the last 3 seasons with 4 separate injuries.

Ron Artest is putting his best foot, the one he does not put in his mouth on occasion, forward. Artest enlisted himself as a loyal soldier to Yao Ming. Artest says he will happily defer to Yao and Tracy McGrady, that whatever they said goes.

Houston Rockets center Yao Ming scored 30 points to lead China to an 85-68 triumph against Angola Thursday, giving the Olympic hosts their 1st win of the Summer Games in men's basketball. Using an overwhelming height advantage, China dominated under basket and exploited frequently sloppy play by the African champions for easy baskets.
