The Knicks can't afford to trade any more 1st rounders - Not sure they are allowed to (Stepian rule) and don't have the depth or developing players to justify.

They can trade their 1st and they have all their future first as well so moving one that isn't in the lottery wouldn't be ha huge thing.

The Wolves are on the edge of being a playoff contender. They aren't going to kill all of their cap space for a midlevel first round pick. Especially, because Noah's contract will come off the books after they have to resign Wiggins and KAT.

I doubt the Timberwolves would take the pick lottery protected when the Knicks could just tank. If I were the Knicks, I would take this deal to shed Noah's contract.
